Im thinking on starting a millitarum tempestus army, i love their look but i also really like the imperial guard mechinised lists with all the big tanks and stuff. Is there a way i can bring these two things together?
Thanks!

on the forum. Obviously

Yes.

The Imperial Guard can field squads of Tempestus in their codex. All what the Tempestus army gives you is a unique set of orders, some new equipment iirc, and warlord traits iirc.

Also, the new storm troopers (yes, I know they are now called Tempestus Scions) do indeed look very nice.

Allies is another possibility.

so if i purchase the millitarum tempestus battle force, i could then buy the astra millitarum codex and ally with them to have their awesome tanks?

on the forum. Obviously

I believe so, yes.
Keep in mind though that the allied FoC is a bit limited.

I would make the Astra Militarum the primary detachment, and make the tempestus the allies. That way you can field more tanks.

You wouldn't even need to ally. Astra Militarum can bring a massive 105 Tempestus (including command squads) in one Combined Arms detachment, without even using any of the slots that you put tanks into. Points permutation, you can 105 Tempestus, 15 Russes and 9 Hellhounds in single detachment, you just need two troops, which can Veteran Squads that work really well with Stormtroopers!

I really like the looks of the new Storm Troopers. (Minus the Taurox) But they're begging to be converted to chaos renegades.

Then you DEFINITELY want to get the Astra Militarum (AM) book. The Militarum Tempestus (TM) book does not have rules for tanks, infantry platoon, or a number of things from the AM book.

The Militarum Tempestus scions (aka old stormtroopers) will be noted in the Elites section of the AM book, but with the way army composition goes these days you're probably best off just investing in the one (AM) book.

Yeah, you can actually have entire platoons of Stormtroopers in your Guard armies. It's really neat, and you won't have to ally or anything.

Yeah, I would recommend getting the AM book as well. Then you can build any Storyteller you like.

I'm on board with everyone else. The Tempestus codex is VERY limited. In fact, every model that the Tempestus can use, is an AM model. So the Tempestus is just a way to make 5 model kits into an army... that already belong to another army.

Scions Kit, Valkyrie Kit, Taurox Kit, Commissar Blisters, Chimera... I think. You can't even use Vendettas. :( These all exist as models in the AM Codex. You get some slightly different orders, but hardly anything ground breaking. You could build the very lists, except for their special detachment things, using unbound AM. Essentially, you'd avoid taking an HQ or Troops... just focus on Elites and FA... but you could add Russes and the like as well.

I dunno, I'd feel ripped off if I bought the Tempestus codex. If you can find a legitimate source, take a look at the 2 pages of rules that should have been included in the AM codex, as a way to run a Tempestus army. You'll see what I mean.
