It's been an interesting few weeks, hobby wise. I took my sweet time on a 5 man DV Ravenwing squad over the last two months. Well, I decided to finish them up for our next game day and made great progress and finished them up two weeks ago. It came time to seal them up and disaster struck. The varnish went on thick and it frosted terribly. I thought for sure I was going to have to strip them down and start over. Thankfully, a generous coating of gloss varnish and another thin coat of matte got rid of most of the frost and brought back the rich colors. Crisis averted.

Next, a week prior to game day I got the urge to paint of up a Land Raider. I really wanted to paint up one in Deathwing colors because....it's just awesome. I didn't know if I'd have time to finish the model and it came down to the wire but I did finish.

This kit was one of many donated to the gaming group. It was pre-assembled and magnetized (pretty cool if you ask me). Everything was glued with plastic cement. As a result, the doors were glued in place and only the forward sponsons were usable for weapons. So this is not accurate for tourney gaming in its current form. I painted and kitted it out as how I wanted it to look. Painting the already assembled parts was a challenge but the rest of the painting was stupid easy with an airbrush. The pre-shading and fading of the paint turned out amazing.

The only thing I am going to fix sometime in the future is I will cut the marine out of the multi-melta cupola and repaint him. But in reality, I'm lazy and I'll never get back to it.

The white looks like it could do with a wash, compare to the rest it looks like it's had no attention to it.

What really spoils the bikes is the one in the middle with the huge gap in the tyre (1st picture) it's a shame because I generally like the rest of the painting.

Nice paintwork! I'd second adding a wash to the white to bring out the details though.

I'm not sure why you say the LR is not suitable for tourney use, the weapon position is perfectly valid and there is not a requirement for doors to open. Anyone who insists on such a thing is taking things way too seriously!

Are you referring to the white of the bikes front and rear "wings"?
If so, I was at a loss as to what wash to use that wouldn't ruin the crisp and smoothness of the airbrushed white (that's how I applied). I'm open to suggestions.

The gap...yeah...I agree 100%. It was a process error. I assembled the other bikes before painting while I left the sergeant's bike separated so I could paint the dual wings easier. Well, when it came to fitting them together the result was the drastic gap. Should be fixable by sanding down in the prominent areas (front and back) filling in with some plastic cement or liquid green stuff, sanding smooth and then reapplying the paint in that area. I'll post pictures when/if I get around to it.

Thanks for the feedback!

I'd use an off white or a grey/white and just hand paint it on; pure white looks really weird on motorcycles
