Subject: Switching From Hover mode to Zooming mode after embarking/Stunned

This came up in my gave last week, and was wondering if legal.
As the title says i wanted to embark my blood claws into the stormwolf which was hovering and then switch it to zooming to get closer to other units to assault, But before i could he stunned my Stormwolf in his shooting phase. As i read the rules there is nothing stating that i couldn't take my blood claws and embark into the stormwolf and then switch to zooming nor was could we fine a rule saying that my flyer couldn't switch flight modes while stunned.
So i embarked my models and then flew off the edge of the board with the 18 inch movement that stunned flyers get. Did we play this correctly?

I'm trying to remember right, does it state to decide 'zooming or hover' at the Start of the Movement Phase or the Start of the Models Movement itself? Is there a Rule restricting the range of movement after a Unit embarks into a Transport? Damn memory and being away from the book!

Its the start of the Models Movement, which is one of the reasons we played like we did.

Thought so, still going to have to do some Research before I commit to an answer. Need to see if there is anything preventing the Zooming Flyer from moving the needed 18 Inches to prevent a Crash and Burn after the Unit Embarks....

Crew Stunned:
"If the vehicle is not a Zooming Flyer, it cannot move or pivot until the end of its next turn."
That is the result that was applied while in Hover. Whatever you do in your phase, doesn't change the result applied in his. Also, it is not a "mode" per se, but a "special kind of move". If you can't move, you can't make a "special kind of move."
Edit: Zoom: "Flyers can usually only make a special kind of move called Zoom."

I was almost going to agree with you, but then i read the Hover box on pg 85, and at the bottom of the 2nd paragraph it says "If a flyer in Hover mode cannot switch to Zoom mode if it is immobilized." and since the immobilized result has the same wording about "if the vehicle is a Zooming Flyer... if the vehicle is not a zooming flyer...". Also, it apparently is a "mode" per say .
So what about the reverse? i suffer a crew stunned while Zooming, if i switch to hovering would i still be forced to move 18 inches? I could do this to grab an objective since zooming flyers are not scoring units, to get out of LoS, or to get it closer to models to embark on it.

No, you could not change mode, as you are required to move 18 36", something impossible to do when you arent zooming.

or i could change modes and be treated like a stunned which ever mode i changed into. So stunned Zooming flyer switching to Hover and can't move or pivot, or a stunned hovering flyer switching to Zooming and can't turn and moves 18.

I stand corrected on "mode". It's not readily apparent in the electronic version. The remainder still holds. I agree with Nos on the reverse.

What would allow you to go back and alter a result that was applied in the previous turn?
