Tomorrow is International Talk Like a Pirate day. For the occasion, I thought I’d dredge up some scurvy dogs from the hold and post them here.

I was digging through some old files and found the old web page I made for my army. My note at the bottom of the page said it was last updated 5/15/00. I wonder if I still have those 3rd ed stat cards I made kicking around somewhere. So this week is not just me taking new pictures of old stuff, but actually dusting off 15+ year old photos. “Dusting off” in the sense of digital archeology, sifting through the backup drive from 3ish computers ago. I have no idea what camera I was using back then, but my marines are not that purple looking. There is a reason “get better at photography” is on my New Year’s resolution list every year. Looking at these old pics, I’m actually improving.

So without further ado, a 3rd edition space marine collection, circa 3rd edition.

Every time I see stuff from you Nevelon, I have to resist the urge to send you a PM asking how much you'd sell certain bits for.. I do so love the old stuff. Much jelly.

Odds of me selling painted stuff is very low. There are times I consider thinning out my collection, especially the unpainted stuff, but the idea of packing things up carefully and dealing with shipping always stops me. That and fairly pricing stuff. No idea where to start.

And my packrat nature tells me I may want something someday, so horde everything.

I wouldn't want painted stuff. I've just seen occasionally you've posted some 'to do' gear and I've thought 'that would fit into my army here....' You avatar for example is one of my favorite models. I love all the 'command' models with the sculpted rank badges. Really wish they'd never done away with them.

Which reminds me, I really should finish that stuff off....

About a decade and change late from when the old goblin green base was in vogue.

Nice looking Eldar though!

They go for around $300. The old HQ boxed set goes for $450 on amazon.

My mom threw mine out when I was a teenager. Dragonstrike too. Arrrrgh.

Now I am thinking about stripping them down and restarting a Genestealer cult army.

It's Friday. It's a new year. We're long overdue for a Friday Flashback! Time for a Specialist Games, er, Special! (It's not a Necro. Honest! It's relevant)

As 2016 will be the year where Specialist Games make their long overdue and welcome return (Blood Bowl and, I'm quietly hoping, Adeptus Titanicus), here's a few of my old Epic miniatures - painted about 8 years ago (blimey!) and much older than that:

I love this look for the Warlord and I wish Forgeworld copied it for the full sized version. Not a fan of the new design.

While I hate that version of the Battletechy Warlord and I'm very happy they went 'retro' - even though I'll certainly never buy one for 40K!

I just hope they keep that 'retro vibe' going for the re-launch of EPIC too!
