well, worst case scenario it's a slow but formidable transport that can join in the fighting should it be warranted (and cause Fear! which helps even the odds for sure!).

Best case scenario, it gets locked in combat with a fearless tarpit that is literally unable to hurt it and fifteen lootas are shooting from on its back.

2016 Score: 7W; 0D; 2L

The problem is it might be that you can't shoot out of it since the rules state you treat it as a vehicle for embarking-disembarking purposes. Nothing about shooting. I hope, i'm wrong.

Orks not being able to shoot off the top of a Squiggoth doesn't sound like RAI at all.

What are they doing up there then?
Scratching their arses?

But this "count as a vehicle" is just for embarking/disembarking only, not for the purpose of shooting. Or am I wrong?
Perhaps it's time to make da call.

Finkin' Kap doesn't give access to the leadership bubble.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

There is a new apocalypse book by GW (not forge world) with updated squiggoth stats/rules.

That's for the giant squiggoth not the big squiggoth being discussed here, the most up to date ones are found in Imperial armour apocalypse from 2013.

And I agree that it's weird if you couldn't shoot out of it since the boyz are standing on an open platform with perfect line of sight

My armies:
vior'la sept 12k
Erik Morkai's great company 6k
dark mechanicus, the dearth of hope, 8k
rothwyr morwan's company 1,5k
Adeptus custodes 2k
AoS, The forgotten order, SE, 3k

I was not aware that the smaller squiggoth could carry troops. Sorry about the mixup.

I think it may be something to clear with your opponent before trying out. if the meta allows, then hurray more lootas! if not...

well time to convert some snakebites

"Do you really think 7th edition was the best edition?"

"Yes, and I'm tired of thinking otherwise."
