Just picked up my Codex and I am a bit confused as to how the included detachment and formation work. If I wanted to take both, could I take a Kabalite Raiding Party Formation within a Realspace Raiders Detachment?

Does the Dark Eldar Codex have a Rule stating only one Detachment can be selected from the Codex?
If not, you can select both but they must remain two separate Detachments.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

I've bolded (red) the issue. They are two separate things: one is a detachment (FOC) and the other is a formation (a special kind of detachment). You can use them both, all at once, but they are separate in every way (ie: your army would have two detachments), and you would have to meet the minimum requirements of each (so 1HQ, 2 troops, and a fast attack for the Realspace Raiders, and all the various restrictions from the Kabalite Raiding party) without overlap (since they are two separate detachments)

in casual play you can usually use any number of formations and/or detachments. but note that many tournaments how many and what kind of detachments are allowed.

Extreme - there is a rule in the BRB stating any one unit may only belong to one detachment, so you dont get to count a unit of Kabalites are being a unit in one detachment anda unit in another. No nesting allowed
