Well... A locked thread from a prohibited discussion about the negative mood surrounding Dakka threads..
Not to mention sarcasm as his opening statement..
Poor form Moderators.. poor form..

If you would like to take PM's seriously I would do so.. but I have no doubt in being ignored.. If you would take reports seriously, you should do so immediately.

I currently see no difference between your obvious silencing of any criticism as no different than GW's antics..
The situation is simple.. The debate is not about individual complaint or as you and yours like to put it "complaints about complaints"
It is the public debate as to the perceived poor form of purposefully derailing if not silencing any criticism of MANY Moderators performance,
specifically their lack of controlling insulting and socially unacceptable behaviour especially towards certain arguments as well as pointedly disallowing any debate against them.

If the moderators would like their own social club where dissidence is barred perhaps not advertise your services as a public forum.

I'm going to assume this thread is directed at me because I closed your last thread. Here's the relevant post:

The truth is we don't see much point in threads started to complain about complaining.

Start a thread about something you think GW did well, fine.

Start a thread about something you think GW did poorly, fine.

Start a thread about how it is wrong that people disagree with you about GW or a thread that boils down to a tone argument* against people who disagree with you ... now you're just baiting a pointless meta-argument. And that's what we have here.

If you have any questions or complaints about moderation feel free to start a thread about it in the Nuts & Bolts sub-forum. Thanks.

* A tone argument is where you criticize how someone says something rather than what they say.
I also moved this thread here to Nuts & Bolts because you started it in Dakka Discussion despite my clear instructions.

I saw in the other thread that you claim to have been a member here for longer than indicated by your current account. To refresh your memory: You are required to comply with moderator instructions. But I sense that you may not be very familiar with Dakka Dakka anyway since you claim the staff here "silences any criticism." A quick search through the Nuts & Bolts sub-forum will quickly dispel your confusion/ignorance on that subject, unless of course you are pre-committed to it.

On to the substance of your complaint: moderators are locking threads that complain about people complaining about Games Workshop. As I explained above and in threads I have recently locked, these threads (a) are tone arguments/lack substance and (b) generally constitute flamebait. Rule Number One on this site is Be Polite. When you start a thread complaining about a large amount of other posters, it is almost guaranteed to generate negative responses, which in turn prompts negative responses, until we have tempers ratcheted up and then the moderators have to hand out suspensions.

And it's all noise and no signal. Dakka Dakka is a site about discussing war games. It is not a site about discussing the discussion of war games.

Mod burned. I have never had a problem with mods, they have always been fair and honest when passing judgement. This post just reassures me you only like to stir up trouble.

Thanks for playing, Bob.

Aye, moderators here are pretty lenient on dakka and all sorts of debate and discussions are allowed. However, judging by the amount of your threads created and then locked in the last hour, I'd say you're here to cause trouble instead of contribute to anything

You've been here roughly 4 months and posted less than 200 posts and you've been banned? I think I see where you're not getting along with the MOD staff here. I think you need to look at your posts and your attitude on them perhaps? I've only ever butt heads with 1 MOD here ever and that was really both of us misunderstanding where the other was coming from.

If you have trouble with a certain mod and feel not having been treated fairly, you can always PM the board's administrator yakface and discuss the matter with him. Most mods do a good job and can be reasoned with, some things are just misunderstandings that need to be cleared up.

Easiest rule I can see the OP running foul of: no personal attacks.

Attacking ideas or generalizations are all game but when labeling the person who posted the idea or performed the action it gets into the ugly zone.

I have had zero issues with the moderators and have been more than happy to get into the various heated discussions (just like this).

I have PM'ed MOD's and they are more than happy to explain matters (therapeutic I suspect for some).

"Negative mood" is a symptom, typically we need to move-on and find the source.

Trolling, name calling, unhelpful negativity they are in a position to deal with, then we can get into the discussions on how to get disinterested gaming companies to listen to their customers.

Not to mention obvious tampering in order for dissidence to be seen by as few casual members as possible...

I suppose this is a fine example of point of view.
Some people seek attention by stirring up controversy: why reward it as a moderator?

They are part of a club of shared experience of being the authority for the forums, usually some noted warnings are given first when things go a bit out of hand.

GW antics have zero interaction with their customers, you could PM them all you want, unless it is to do with a shipment your reply would be silence so this is far more exciting.

OP: So how about post something interesting instead?
A Grey zone form of trolling is to look at a rule in bad need of a FAQ and show how you can break it and then some: that should get all the arguments you can handle.

All in all, my experiences and seeing how other more "combative" users were handled, I fail to see the problem.
If what was done was NOT contrary to the rules then I would be happy to take on the cause, but since little was said I can only assume they were doing what they are required to do: keep the barbarians at bay.

<edit> Yeah, did a review of a few postings of yours, I get the impression if you held back much you would hurt yourself. The change you want can only happen through thoughtful discussion... I wish you the best of luck.

I'd like to see this exact sentenced copied into any number of "complaining about the complainers" threads, because it's the most succinct argument I have seen thusfar why they don't work well.
