So I'm going to adepticon 2015 , but Iv never traveled with my models except to the local store, so my question is, is it safe to check the army bags (battlefoam)? or if it is recommend to take them as a carry on, then is the 1520xl within regs to carry on?
I want to bring 1850 of 40k, 2500 of fantasy, 1650 late war fow and 750 of lotr.
So I was thinking the 720 pack bag on top of the 1520 Xl,
Also any tips on packing/going to someones first con and it being adepticon...

I played a guy last year at adepticon, checked his all chariot WoC army........every single model was broken. It was packed in custom cut battlefoam trays

good to know!! Know I just need to figure out if the 1520 can count as my carryon!

My recommendation would be to travel light. Bring an army not 4. You wont be able to game with all of that over the weekend. Though it may be tempting i would say pick 1-2 at most.

If you must check anything, check the FOW. They will survive the beating best.

Oh and if you do bring your LOTR and want to hit the open gaming area, lmk im always down for some LOTR

well 40k is an auto include, just gotta figure out what army to bring! Ill bring 750 of lotr, namiel do you play evil or good? I have LOTS of lotr lol.
so in that case probably lotr, 40k seeing how iv only played two games of fow. fantasy would be cool but ogres are kinda big!

i play good. BIg elf army. I would suggest waiting until the events are listed and go from there. Ogres arent bad because they are relatively durable

Ok i play the far east (easterlings/harad/khandish) and fiefdoms for the most part.

any idea when the events will be listed?

Badges usually go on sale at the end of October. The big events should be up then and some things will be added as they go

Yes, absolutely. You do not want baggage handlers to get hold of your models. In fact, you should not even carry them on, as you cannot guarantee that you will be able to carry the bag on.

Ship the models. Put them in your Battlefoam bag, put that bag inside of a box, snug it up with crumpled paper or whatever filler you like, pay for the insurance, and ship the package to your hotel.

When it is time to leave, repack the box and either give the box to the hotel or bring it to a local FedEx location for shipment.

FedEx will get your package to its destination swiftly, they are barred by law from opening or tampering with the package, and the contents can be insured against damage. In terms of cost, it isn't even that much more expensive considering check baggage fees.

Ship your models. They will be safer and you will have recourse in the even that something happens to them.

Weeble1000 idea of shipping them to the hotel or where ever your staying is the best idea. Your models are going to get destroyed by the luggage handlers if you decide to fly with them.
