Are walkers (dreadnaughts or morkanaughts) able to issue/ accept challenges?

They aren't characters, so no.

If they are a character, there is nothing inherently limiting them from accepting or issuing challenges.

They must, however, be a character.

From memory just Bjorn. That may have changed, of course.

You're right, Bjorn is a character! So walker challenges are a thing

A Iyanden WK warlord will receive the character unit type, among others.

Anything that is a character will follow the challenge rules, anything that isn't will not.

Which has nothing to do with the question, since Wraithknights are not Walkers.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Technically, challenges only have to do with characters, and the WK is a good illustration of a non-character unit type receiving the character unit type in specific circumstances, i.e. an example of a case that could apply to a walker.

Helbrute Champion in a Helbrute Murderpack becomes a champion, as does an Imperial Knight nominated as a Knight Warlord.

Didn't realise a wraithknight got character status when it became your warlord; that's something to watch out for. Is that in the supplement itself or the FAQ?

Iyanden supplement.

The Imperial Knight does not become a character afaik.

They updated the FAQ for imperial knights - a Detachment is now 1-3 knights, and if it's a detachment of 3 one may be your warlord, and gains the (character) subtype.

There also is a rather useless formation which makes a single killa kan a character.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.
