Six to seven feet on average. Taller and more slender than the average human, sometimes as tall as or taller than a Space Marine.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

You need to put the "sometimes" bit back at the beginning of that fragment of a sentence. What's-her-face at the beginning of DoW 2 is as tall as Captain Flashypants, to name one, and being that the Eldar appear to follow the same lines of sexual dimorphism as humans do, there are, ostensibly, males taller than she is.

Given that the average human height is six feet, and Space Marines are seven-foot-six on average, and that Eldar are described, one and all, as taller than a regular human, that puts their minimum height at *at least* six-six, which is tall for a human, but not unheard of. While we don't have particularly many examples of Eldar hanging around with tall humans, when Eisenhorn meets Ravenor with his Eldar SeerCouncil, they're described as being really, really tall... and Gregor ain't a short guy himself.

Actually eldar are very androgynous. Hence why GW can get away with making dual kits with them in.

Don't forget that generally GW model production works like this:
- A modeller comes up with a fancy model concept
- He discusses it with the rest of the guyz and they say: "Yep, it's cool!" or "Nope, an old fart viking marine on a sledge, you kiddin'?!!" and it might fulfill this battle role for the army.
- The rules for the model are created.
- Fluff is written about how cool the guyz are.

Authors like Dan Abnett have their own view on the WH40k universe on the whole. And what they write often does not relate to the 'canon' stuff. But it's all absolutely fine within 40k to have marines shrug off rokkits like no big deal in one book and die horribly to a pulse rifle shot in another one. Same with eldar hight.

To be fair, the same game portrayed Space Marines as shorter than Guardsmen.

Nah, Dawn of War 2 is actually pretty good for unit scaling, tanks excepted. DOW1 is where you had eight foot tall guardsmen with heads as big as pauldrons.

Think of something clever to say.

Look at your army painter. Look at guardsmen, then look at tactical marines. Notice the height of the two.

Just because they are androgynous does not mean that their males are not, on average, taller than their females. Elves are often depicted in this way, but the design of their armor lets us know that there are definitely marked differences between actual-male Eldar and actual-female Eldar. Otherwise their armor wouldn't look different, regardless of the gender of the Space-Elf who's wearing it.

There are differences between the genders, but there is no reason to automatically assume that the height (or muscle-mass) difference is one of them. Eldar sexual dimorphism does not need to be similar than human sexual dimorphism, for example Eldar males do not have facial hair, yet human males do.

This, indeed. We have no reason to assume that males are higher until we get evidence of it.

Striking Scorpion models are not taller than Banshee models (accounting for the crouch).
