Overall, Space Wolves got cheaper in points. TWC got way better in points efficiency, the new flyer is pretty solid, Lone Wolves are awesome mini-characters that don't take up FOC slots, and a properly kitted out Wolf Lord can hold his own against a kitted out Chapter Master.

And as far as flavor goes, Space Wolves will always be better than Vanilla Marines. People may make canine jokes, but remember that you decorate your armor with wild beasts that you have slain. The only thing the majority of the Vanilla Marines can prove they've killed is trees.

I keep going back to Space Wolves, love the army. They have a counter for everything and they bite back. You will have counter attack that's why I don't mind being charged.

Allies are only taken if you really want to. I have never allied, Space Wolves have advanced from being a stand alone army. I have won games and been really close in a few other games of winning with my Wolves.

We have Stromfang that really good at getting troops to the other side and blowing up aircraft. MCs we have Arjac who goes at S10 in Shooting and Assualt. Pouring shoots with Lascannon Long Fangs.

I don't think they are that expensive, can get Grey Hunters and Blood Claws from any army, majority of mine are from the Assault on Black Reach Marines. HQs can be made from any box set, made my first Wolf Lord and Rune Priest from the GH/BC/WG box set, my second Wolf Lord came from the same box set with some added stuff from the Terminator box set and the Space Wolf Upgrade pack.

Now I know Space Wolves aren't a Tier 1 army. But I feel in love with them because they are space vikings that love to drink and fight.

Yeah im not after a 'Tier 1 army'... Because they're usually the ones that spam OP units to win. I dont want that. Just units that seem cool and fun to use.

How does an iron priest help TWC? i dont have the book as of yet :(

You put him on a TWC and laugh as you get a 2+ armour Thunderwolf.

No, but he does get 5 S10 thunder hammer attacks if I remember correctly.

He has 3 base +1 for the TWC making him 4 attacks base, 5 on the charge. Along with that, and I might just try this but he can also take up to 1 to 4 Cyberwolves, which are characters, so they can take the first 4 wounds or accept challenge so the IP can hit last but still S10 in CC is great. He's just the model that has the 2+ so your oppenot goes oh with 5 more TWC

Is it 3 base, or 2 + 1 for having 2 specialist weapons (TH and servo arm)?

You are right, but I'd use the servo arm because its S x2 AP1

About flyers and SW. I think there was a point in saying that SW had problems with flyers in the old codex, where the only way to get skyfire was to either ally, use fortifications, or use FW flyers).

But in the new codex I don't think that's the case any longer.
1. SW has flyers of their own. And they seem pretty good. Haven't tried them my self but I own a Storm Eagle that plays quite similar to the SW flyers.
2. You can still use an ADL/Bunker with a Quadgun if you're facing a flyer-heavy meta. And put Long fangs behind/inside.
3. Long fangs may now take flak missiles, terribly expensive but that's the same for all marines.

As to TWC, you don't need to add an IP to get a 2+ save, you may also run a WL or WGBL with runic armor to get this. But the IP is a little bit cheaper and allow you to take cyberwolves. Another great addition to a TWC unit is a RP on a bike, that can buff the unit (Biomancy or Divination). Having multiple ICs in the unit also allows you to be more flexible and splitting up the unit for more objectives or just to deal with MSU.

Though since Space wolves are unable to get eternal warrior outside of Logan and Arjac or a lone wolf. If you play in a meta with lots of strength 10, do not bring TWC they will die and they will be a magnet for anything str 10 and then you will just see a large portion of your army disintegrate. Though if not then they are a pretty solid choice, but they still are a fire magnet.

What lists actually have Mass St10? honest question.

It seems like the thing you send the melta pods to take care of while you send your TWC somewhere else.

The 2 biggest threats are manticores and vindicators.

Both can be mitigated. In such a meta, I'd recommend meltas in pods.

Which can also be mitigated by just wrapping the vehicles with units, such as for guard a squad to possible keep out of melta range or at minimum give cover and for vindicators can use a cultist meat shield if using chaos.

You can also midigate the shots by conga lining a table edge. forcing them to pivot for other shooting too. especially those delicious las cannon long fangs.

As to the question of is SW good?

They are fine they basically have everything and can deal with most everything. obviously not a fully tailored of 100% off the walls competitive tourny list but it should handle regular games with enough variations to not get boring that quickly.
