I've not read 7th btw.

You can kill any model in CC regardless of range.
But you can't atk within any range.

What?

Surely it should be everything with 6" for example?

And why do i have to have a swarm run straight forward, can't i just move my models around the targeted unit so they can all fight?

Is there anything a swarm can actually do, apart from spreading out sideways to try an all get into combat?

Yes, you have to get as many of your models into base as possible on the charge, and with pile in afterwards. If your model is in combat and within 2" of a friendly model in base contact with an enemy it can fight. I'm really unsure of what else you may be asking.

he's talking about how if a demon prince kills all models within 4" when he swings, his guys cant swing back because their pile in moves dont get them into b2b.

If you let a demon prince charge you on the end of a line of models, you will be quite disappointed in the results.

I always under-guess-estimate what's able to fight though as to save time and annoyance to the other player. People scraping to get as much as they can under a template really grinds my gears.

Ork player here. You need to read the assault rules. Only one unit has to go the shortest distance possible. If I remember right, and you need to go read it, the rest can make an assault move going as far as the charge so long as they end in b2b if possible.

You need to read the rules completely it's a large section designed to make all parties involved get into base contact with each other if possible. Not hover in that 2" around b2b models.

I've only had one occasion that resulted in something like this and it was spaced out block of boyz getting assaulted by LC termies. At my initiative boyz tried to pile in but had no models in base contact. I forget how it resulted.

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

The single space marine model versus 20 out of synapse Hormagaunts failing an initiative roll off is comedy gold and evidence enough of GW's questionable rules.

BOLD

You mean model i'm guessing?

I will now that you've said that. It's the conga line which didn't make sense to me. Deadly warriors shouldn't be waiting in line to deal some bashing!

My apologies I do mean model. Important to know that opponents models within 2" of b2b are supposed to attempt to get into b2b as well during there initiat I've step. This is important because it gives you more surface area to stuff swarms into.
