Well I probably shouldn't be starting another army but I was thinking of starting vampire counts a few months back before the end times stuff came out but I scrapped that idea due to not really wanting another horde army (450+ skaven models is alot)
Anyways I won't be starting another army until I finish painting my 2500 point standard skaven list but maybe after Christmas I will start another army.
Empire has been a big interest of mine and was thinking I should start them when it comes time. I'd like to plan out a 2500 point list tho so I don't go overboard on models like I did skaven (let's face it skaven are the coolest army so its alright lol)
What I want from the army is:
- lots of cavalry (knights, demigryphs, outriders)
- steamtank
- maybe 40 halberdiers
- canon
- hellblaster w master engineer
Based on that I could probably get a decent 2k list.
I will probably start with the battalion box but was wondering if a list like this would be viable? My friends dad has empire but non of the steamtanks or demigryphs so I don't know how they play but I know they are good lol
You still have a lot of skaven to paint so it's a brave undertaking :p
I'm also starting an Empire army that is currently one battalion and two wizards, I would recommend you include some wizards in the army as they seem one of the most fun aspects with all the different options available.
I know Halberdiers in horde formation are meant to be great but if you are fielding so much cavalry you might want to consider a bus of swordsman instead to pin a unit in place so your cavalry can charge the flanks.
Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Oh I know that's why I don't think I want to paint all 6500 points before moving on
I agree about the wizards.
I was thinking 1 battle wizard lore of heavens and then a captain of the empire on foot with a battle standard. Then a general of empire on a steed to put in a unit of 8-10 knights of the inner circle.
I was thinking of using the halberdiers as a bunker unit but I'm not very familiar with the tactics of using cavalry as skaven don't have any.
Was thinking a unit of greatswords but like I said I'd like to have lots of cavalry over infantry
Automatically Appended Next Post: Maybe I should get two battalion boxes if I'm shooting for lots of knights and halberdiers?

2 battalion boxes would be a good way to start. That's 16 knights and 40 halberds and 20 crossbow with 2 cannons. I would also get a box of wizards, the captain box, and a box of archers(if you want that for chaff).

Any more vegans want to put forth their opinions on bacon?

Would the archers be the best option for chaff tho? I've seen people use free company. Also would the crossbowman or hand gunners be better? Probably use them as detachments I'm guessing?
Not sure the best tactics for cavalry based empire. Anyone able to give me some insight into that?

Archers are cheap, skirmishers, and can shoot. They make decent chaff and wizard bunkers.
Crossbows are more competitive but if you want a nuln theme, everything must be blackpowder.

I'd start with Karl Franz on Deathclaw because it's a gorgeous model! Actually, I sold my Empire stuff a while ago, and went out and bought Karl Franz just to have him on my shelf. I highly recommend him, especially since rumored rules are suggesting there is an "immortal" version of him running around.
Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I do like the Karl Franz model but no special characters at the store I play at so maybe just for painting him up.
Anyways not sure if this is a decent list but just wanted to throw it on here to see if it was even viable (since this is the type of list I'd like to run)
Spoiler:
2499 points
+ Lords + (183pts)
* General of the Empire (183pts)
(Hold the Line!)
Heavy Armour, Lance, Shield
* Magic Items
BRB - Armour of Destiny
* Warhorse
Barding, Warhorse (Swiftstride)
