Hello, I am currently working on an ork army but I am considering making the switch to an Eldar army. But I don't know what to buy first. I have 10 dire avengers but I have no clue what to buy next. Any advice on anything about them would be great, even if some models are just fun to paint!. But yeah I would like to know what miniatures are essential to have at my disposal.
Thanks for any replies in advance.

Well, I'd opt for the following core
Farseer (on jetbike if possible)
3 Jetbikes
10 Dire Avengers
Wave Serpent
10 Dire Avengers
Wave Serpent
Dire Avengers to be transported in Serpents are often taken in 5 men squads.
Guardian squads provide an alternative to Dire Avengers.
10 men in a Serpent are almost equally useful.
There are several options when it comes to HS. It depends how much money you want to spend here.
A Wraithknight would be a decent addon as are 3 Warwalkers.
If you need to take on heavy tanks or heavy armor, then take 5 Fire Dragons in a Serpent.
A small squad can usually get the job done especially when guided.

Should i buy a Battleforce then? It has 10 Guardians, 5 dire Avengers, a wave serpent and a viper jetbike.

This would be a good starting point.

For a base for an army, the battleforce is a good choice.
I would always suggest Warp Spiders as an early add-on unit. S6 guns with Jump-Shoot-Jump is good, and add Deep Strike to that, it's great. But expensive.
Jetbikes are the usual troop choice to add, and a Vyper can be put in alongside them easily. If you don't like the Vyper, leave the turret off it and put a Farseer on as a Jetseer.
I like the Crimson Hunter. It has the option to upgrade to Exarch, swap the guns out, and take the 'sniper' option. That has a 36" range, 6 shots of S6/8 and lots of AP2, with Precision Shot.
If you're worried about calls of cheese, just don't put Scatter Lasers on the Wave Serpent.

I'd like to disagree with Skinneral in one point
Serpents should always be equipped with tl scatterlasers.
They are a must have. Otherwise a list with several Serpents will not work properly.

Not really a MUST have. That is just a single way of using them that is most effective for most people. There is nothing wrong with mounting Bright Lance, slamming it down on a tank with shields active and reducing every AP1 penetrating hit from a Tau Hammerhead to a single glancing hit while shooting back. S6 and twin linked S7 isn't the be all-end all Serpent Spam makes it out to be.

Why not just run scaters and just destroy your targets, then hope your opponent won't glance you to death. Specialy as in most cases there is a bigger chance to see multi shot broadsides or crissis suits then a one shot hammer head.

Depends on what you want to get in the end. If you want a strong tournament-oriented army, wave serpents, wraithknights and warp spieders are the most obvious choice. Note though, that tournament eldar are way easier to play than orks you're allready collecting and might have experience with. Eldar have effective point and click lists that rely on mobility, durability and firepower.
If you want more casual games - you can basically pick any unit in the book except for banshees and they'll do fine.
