I use the Forum Index link (top left: Forum Index/Nuts&Bolts) quite often to navigate around the site. If I'm currently viewing Painting & Modeling and I'd like to check News & Rumors, I would click that link to go back to the Forum Index, and then on to News and Rumors. Or I can click on the Painting & Modeling link to go back to the P&M index and peruse other topics on that board.

However, the forum index is getting quite long now. I've noticed this a lot more since I started posting in the Infinity subforum. Moving back and fourth from Infinity General Discussion to Infinity Rules Questions requires going back to the top of the forum Index, and then scrolling all the way down to find the Infinity boards again (which are somewhere in the middle and easy to miss). It would be so much easier if there were a link somewhere to the subforum Index. Warmachine players must notice this too.

You have such a function on the bottom right of the site.

Not really. That's just a smaller version of the main Index. You still have to scroll through every other board to get to the one you want. This is just as slow on a phone or a touch pad. Also that isn't available in the post window. A lot of the time when I do want to check another board it's because I'm writing a post and want to open something in a new window to reference.

The Soda pop forum is a good example of what I'm talking about. You can link to:
The Main Index
Any Forum (In this case SDE General Discussion)
And also:
Any sub board (This is just the SDE boards)

These links are on each page. If you are already on an SDE board, then you never have to scroll past the RK boards to view another SDE board. As you can just go to the SDE index, rather than the index for the entire forum.

It doesn't matter much on the Soda pop forum because they don't have many boards, but Dakka has a lot.

I'm a little unclear - do you mean you would like to see a link to each forum sub-section somewhere to remove the need to scroll when browsing that particular subsection?

Yes (I think), in the same way you can navigate from a topic back to the containing board. Something like this:

Forum Index » Infinity » Infinity General Discussion
or
Forum Index » More Dakka » Nuts & Bolts

Instead of just this:

Forum Index » Infinity General Discussion
or
Forum Index » Nuts & Bolts

That is my suggestion. I believe it would make it easier to navigate between (and find) related boards, particularly the boards in the middle of the Index such as Infinity and Warmachine. For Dakka and 40k it isn't as noticeable because they are at the top of the page. More Dakka is also easy as it is right at the bottom, so you can just drag to the end, or hit the END key.

As I said, I only started to notice it a lot since viewing the Infinity boards. Though I think it would make all related boards easier to view at once and switch between.
