Hi guys,

Just curious as to the rule interpretation for the Genestealers and bonus attacks. I know if they have 2 pairs of weapons, it counts as 2 CCWs. My question is, why bother with Scything Talons?

The model clearly has 2 pairs of rending claws and they are statistically better. They have +1 AP and rending. The codex doesn't state that it is 2 pairs but the models are modelled that way. Am I right in thinking that Genestealers gain the extra attack?

If the Codex doesn't say they are armed with 2 sets, then they're not.

And aren't the basic models armed with only one set of claws? And a pair of hands in addition to this?

They aren't modeled that way at all. There's one set of Rending Claws and another set of hands. Adding the Talons gives you a second CCW for the extra attack.

The hands in front are Rending Claws, the ones in the rear are normal hands.

........ dude, you just blew my mind :-)

I can't believe I didn't see that.

Boy, do I feel dumb. You were right. The second lot of hands are not rending claws - they're freaking hands

Besides,
What Weapons a Model is armed with has nothing to do with the way the model looks, it is entirely governed by the Options and War-gear List found in the Army Entry itself. If that List does not state your Model begins the game with two Pairs of Weapons, then no matter how many Weapons are put onto the Model it still is only armed with the original Pair. While 'What You See is What you Get' is nice, that is also controlled by what is written on the Army List Entry. To use this situation as an example: Had the Model been sold with two pair of weapons by default, we would be required to remove one set of Limbs if we did not purchase the option to keep them.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.
