SO i was wondering does anyone know if slaanesh will ever get any love or new models? I would love to see some new fantasy slaanesh, but what could they be?

I need to go to work every day.

I have heard that there will be no khaine book. Undead, chaos, skaven, and empire.

Oh please, try being a Tzeentch devotee...
Outside of one or two gimmicky item combos/spells, Tzeentch has always been the odd-God out and generally had the worst rules.

Besides, Tzeentch is now the only God to not have a dedicated unit of his own in the WoC book, while the DoC options either require rules manipulation to make 'em 'uber, or else are just plain poop.

Yep. Old Grandfather Nurgle is leading the way in terms of coolness and broad appeal. Tell me those Putrid Blightkings don't make you want to buy a box...

5000 pts High Elves 4000 pts, Warriors of Chaos 4000 pts, Dwarfs 3000 pts, Wood Elves and Greenskins too

They do not make me want to buy a box.

Personally I hate the nurgle aestetic. I own exactly 11 nurgle models (GUO & 10 Plague bearers) that got lumped into a trade because the guy didn't want them just laying around.

I may go to Mierce-miniatures.com to pick up something to be a counts-as glottkin.

Glotkin are too small for their bases imo. Why they have the 40mm as infantry I'll never know.

Having 5 guys lined up that wide just looks weird unless you are a master of creative basing.

I've been thinking of surrounding each one with a wave of nurglings to make the base look less empty.

The Blightkings are on 40mm as infantry because that's where they fit.

And what's more it might very well be that 9th edition removes the "Monstrous Infantry" type and just adjusts stats accordingly for units that are currently considered such.

Have you seen the actual statline on the Blightkings?

They are Ogres without the ability to Stomp or immunity to Killing Blow.

Yes i have but i do belive they decided to not go with MI for a reason. For the points making them MI would pretty much make them an auto include in any competitive list but now it tones them slightly down leaving them still a very good choice and very viable in competitive and casual play. Also they are not ogres....they are just bloated by nurgle chosen. So they may be on 40mm bases, may be larger then the average warrior, but still dont match the stature of orgres.

When I referred to them as "Ogres", I was meaning in terms of their statline(barring Weapon Skill).

It's why I specifically stated "They are Ogres without the ability to Stomp or immunity to Killing Blow".
That's kind of a big deal, since it really futzes up some of the elite units that pay out the wazoo for Killing Blow(like Dark Elf Executioners, for example) if all of a sudden they can't use it at all.

Which is why I'm thinking Monstrous Infantry , whenever we see a new edition, is either going to be:
A) Removed as a classification.
B) Made vulnerable to Killing Blow to offset the fact that they usually are large multi wound models.

I think the way they are doing the "combined profiles" for Monstrous Mounts is a great indicator of the fact they've realized that Monsters and Monstrous Infantry might need to be toned down.

MI are not immune to killing blow........not that i know of. Only monsters are immune to killing blow but not heroic killing blow.

Monstrous infantry doesnt really need to be changed as it works just fine as it is and not over powered. Yes its strong but not game breaking. If it was you would see nothing but ogres toping all tournment results

Warhammer wrote:KILLING BLOW

Killing Blow is only effective against infantry, cavalry and war beasts -- all other creatures are considered either too large to be felled by a single blow(monsters, monstrous infantry/cavalry/beasts, chariots and so on) or too numerous for a well-placed strike to slay them all(Swarms).

Remember when the topic was about Slaanesh?

I feel the unpopularity is due in part to Slaanesh lacking an uniform identity.

IMO, the 'Prince of Pleasure' should be rocking around with armies of sex demons. GW falls a bit short here. You get fugly daemonettes; everything else is weird cow demons and crab claws. This doesnt make a lot of sense; the Keeper of Secrets and Beast of Slaanesh look like they belong in a different army entirely.

I fully believe a dark elf army (with all the female models) painted purple would make a better looking slaaneshi army than actual slaanesh models.

Well, there's also the issue of Slaanesh(the Prince of Pleasure and Excess) is not simply about sex.

Slaanesh is about taking everything to 11. Look at 40k and the Noise Marines.

I really dig what slaanesh stands for as far as the excess. It is hard to find an ideantity for that though. Anything can be slaaneshi really. GW has kind of given it an identity with what models it produces and its design team have used for color choices but you really can make it anything you want.

No, you're right.

But its certainly not about... whatever this thing is supposed to be:

The Chaos Marine take on slaanesh is spot on, as you say. The daemons themselves? Not really.

Well I guess they felt guilty for shafting Nurgle all these years.

As for Tzeentch they still don't care.

This is best example I can think of...........how many years before these were replaced did the other gods get plastic kits?

IIRC, the new Pinkies were 2010, while the 'Letters & 'Nettes were 2008.

Of course, most seem to think that both Tzeentch & Slaanesh got a massive downgrade with their plastic infantry, so again, Nurgle's got absolutely nothing to b***** about... (unlike poor Tzeentch who's almost always getting the epic shaft...)

I am mixed honestly. On their own the old horrors looked great but were hard to convert with.

On the other hand I had a lot more fun with the new horrors.

The point is Nurgle tends to get tons of stuff each Chaos release.

I honestly love both the old metal & the new plastic Horrors myself... even the old 4th/5th ed Pink & Blue Horrors were 'fun' models, big hands and all.

My only complaint about the new plastic pinkies that the little b******* won't ever rank up, no matter how much planning you put into them! Ranking up Horrors nowadays is like learning to play Tetris on Lv99 with the skill level set on Lunatic mode...
