Have you checked out my website and seen what I typically charge for painting? I provide cheap and typically quick painting.
I have never claimed to do display quality painting. If you are looking to pay $10+ per model for tabletop quality please look elsewhere.

I think that your stuff looks fine, man. It's not extremely fancy, but it's nice and crisp, and better than what I could do.

It just seems that you use only 2 or 3 colors mainly just base coating them, It would take less effort to paint them like that than to take the minis to the post office and send them to you, let alone pay for them to be sent and painted. Just my opinion, each to there own though.

I am glad you have so much free time. I provide a service for people who want their miniatures painted but don't have the time or the cash to get them painted elsewhere. My problem is with someone being insulting the quality of work for the price I charge. If someone is not planning to use a painting service there is no reason to insult me. There are more painting services listed in the trade section who do much better work then I do, but they do charge accordingly.

If you dont want your work criticized, dont provide your service. i just dont want to see anyone ripped off. And i did not insult you, all my points are valid.

Constructive criticism is fine. "I'd want a refund" and "it takes more effort to take them to the post office than it does for you to paint them" is not constructive criticism. That's just being a jerk.

Seriously?

"It takes more effort to drive somewhere and pay the postman than it does for you to paint a model."

"I would want a refund if I received those models."

If that's not insulting/nonconstructive, I don't know what is. The point is, there are more constructive ways to express criticism of someone's work. None of what you have said in this thread has been constructive in the slightest. You could have said "I feel that you could add some more detail and contrast by adding other colors to the palette you use on your commissions" or "I'm not sure I'd be happy with that level of detail for the price you charge, but I think you could do x, y, and z to make the models more enticing for the price." There are ways to say what you said without coming off as snide and pompous. If you can't say something nicely, don't say it at all.

Cocaco, "They seem plain for commission work" would be a proper criticism, to which the topic creator could then say "the commission work I provide is meant to be table top quality, not display quality, and be pretty cheap cost wise." (which they did say). Your "criticism" is insulting, and you saying "no it's not" does NOT make it any less insulting.

You are indeed being a jerk. The stuff is obviously done at a cheaper painting quality, but skill is evident with neatness. Look at any commission painter, they will do similar work as their lower tier cheapest work. They then start charging more for more effects such as washes, shading, etc. Worse yet, the TC explained that the work is lower cost, and yet you still say people are getting ripped off.

I encourage you to learn what constructive criticism is vs what being a jerk is(putting it nicely), or get off these forums as you will be unwelcome.

Karnophage, please put Cocaco on your ignore list. Some of that stuff you've painted is really cool.

I picked up a lot of miniatures off of Craigs list. Used these Catachan's for a bit of practice painting skin and throwing them up on Ebay.

I think they look great, especially your batch of catachans. Very consistent and clean. What type of paint do you use? Would you mind sharing your basic painting technique? Thanks

Some cool stuff here bro. Painting hordes is a massive ball ache for most people and you're delivering a very solid, tabletop quality service. Infact, your tanks look better than tabletop quality to me!
