Can someone help me with Cleansing Flame Sanctic Power? It reads 9" 5 4 Assault 2d6, Ignores cover and soul blaze. Its a nova power.
Its the nova power that confuses me. It "automatically targets and hits all enemy units including flyers and monstrous creatures... Otherwise, a nova is treated like a shooting attack and indeed will have a profile like a ranged weapon"
So, say I roll a 7 on 2d6. Does that mean every unit in 9" takes 7 hits? or do I start distributing 7 wounds total among the units within 9"?

You roll 2d6 per unit.
One unit you could roll a 7, another you could roll a 12.

So I roll 2d6 per unit? Any specific citation that clarifies this? I know it was in the 6th edition. But can't find specifics in the 7th.

What enemy units do Novas automatically target and hit?

All units within 9" of caster. But it says 2d6 hits. What is unclear if that is 2d6 per unit targeted/hit or 2d6 spread amongst all of them.

What rules would govern how you spread those 2d6 hits? The answer is none because you don't. If you were told it was a Nova that was say Assault 1 you would apply 1 hit to each unit right? So it is the same but replace 1 with 2d6.

You automatically target and hit all units within range, so you need to complete the shooting process for each unit individually.
That involves shooting at each unit individually and rolling 2D6 every time you resolve the attack against a particular unit within range.

I interpret the rule as rolling 2D6 one time and hitting all units that many times.
If you roll 2D6 that number becomes the profiles number for that turn.
So if you roll 7, the weapon becomes 'assault 7' for 1 turn and you use that profile for every unit hit.
I have no rules to back this up; but this is my view on the matter.
