Do any of you Ork players use flash gitz? If so, what's the best loadout for them - do you take them in big or small squads? What about transport options?
You can make them small enough to not be cared about and in a trukk.
A Great Waaagh detachment featuring Mad Dok and a BM with the MFF with flash gitz in a Wagon can be a sweet unit. Consider a Burna on the mek for assault protection.
I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

They are an expensive model. Worse.. they need a power weapon. I recommend you go small or make a shooty star with the mad Dok for klaw and fnp. Then the mek with MFF for invul. And then shove two dakkadakka mek in there even.
Support the list with disposable tankbustas and a couple mobile speed bumps.

If you want to free up Heavy Support slots while also having an inordinate amount of Flash Gitz that are blinged up you can take Kaptin Badrukk's Flash Gitz formation. You get 2 units of 10 Flash Gitz all with Master-crafted Snazzguns alongside Badrukk, where you can choose to blob them all together as one super unit at the beginning of the game during deployment. The only restriction is that you unfortunately MUST take at least a full unit of 10 for each unit of Flash Gitz, so no party-wagon with 19 Flash Gitz and Badrukk. Other than that though it's an easy way to add them in without requiring extra FoC to get more battlewagons for troops or something.

If I really wanted to be a loophole exploiting rules lawyer...
AFAIK you can technically take a DT vehicle for a squad even if you can't actually fit the squad in it. Also, Badrukk is an independent character. So surely I could have them start as a blob, then have Badrukk leave the unit so that the gitz can hop on the wagon?

Nope, GW actually thought through the dataslate formation sadly, they specify that if they're blobbed up that Badrukk cannot leave the unit. So no 20 man partywagon of Flash gitz shooting the bajeezus out of elite infantry units.

Ah well. I suppose taking them as two units with dt wagons is still pretty damn killy and arguably makes for better target saturation anyway - perhaps with a kff big mek in the second wagon? Or can I not do this because he is from a different detachment?

There's no limitations on what can join the unit itself, so yes you can put a KFF big mek in the second wagon. Would love to see how they would do against a Tau army, if only to see the War of Dakka play out on the tabletop.

Thought it through? They gave the FlashGitz Mastercrafted on their guns! There was no thought there, it ruins the formation and makes it unplayable. Giving them no bonus at all would have been better.

I honestly thought that GW would just give them twin-linked and called it a day. But yeah, it's effectively sanguinary guard and their glaive encarmine again except on a much larger scale, I wouldn't say it ruins the game but it does add a lot of game time from you rolling them separately.
20 sets of 3 dice, with a single re-roll in each set.
No Ork player's going to roll that, we have enough to do during our turn.
If I ever run this formation, I'd just ignore it and roll the 60 dice.
First codex I ever bought was the Freebooter one, my Ork's have been pirate ever since, so I was really excited to hear about a Flashgit formation. Then I read the rules

Yeah, I'm pretty sure most of my opponents would just beg me to re-roll 10 of the 30 shots from a unit rather than actually go through each snazzgun separately. Also a super-gitfinda squig (BS4 rather than 3 if you stay still) or actual armour saves (even as an upgrade option) would have been a cooler buff than the master-crafted snazzguns.

You could march them forward and than jump in the BW when someone dies. Not that it's super-effective tactix.
The best you can get out of flash gitz in most situations is stick them in a battlewagon - probably with a boomgun. Also, don't underestimate Flash Gitz in mellee. A hell ton of s5 attacks will finish off most things.
You could probably stick them on top of a Squiggoth and move + shoot. Charge something with a squiggoth. It's actually quite bad at killing stuff by itself so you can hope to get stuck in mellee for quite some time. Now it can't get shot and is basically stationary. So, your flash gitz are there in the middle of the board shooting at bs3 out of an untargetable giant lizard.

As said above, it's not the most efficient heavy slot we have, but they are cool and fun and the new models are great.
If you want to field them, 5 or 10 in a BW is ok. I played once 5 of them in a BW, along with others BW. They played their role.
okay so the battle fortress would be a fun choice, even if it's point inefficient. Hey at least you can make it look like an f'n huge pirate ship for your gits!
dont know about the formation but i used flashgitz sometimes as "cheap" shootamob replacements, if you have the support slots to spare...
take 5 of em and put em in a battlewagon and you got yourself a mighty rolling gun platform.
they are great to soften up heavy infantry and quiet cheap too.
20 shootaz cost you about 150-160 points, do a bit more damage against light targets and pack alot more punch in CC.
but the gitz cost less, have a greater range and will be better against tougher targets due to their higher strenght and potential low AP
the best thing is, even if you dont roll a low ap, chances are that even 2+ saves will fail now and then due to the amount of wounds generated by flashgitz (especially if stood still) also their strenght 5 weapons can harm dreaded T8 models like the wraithknight/lord
i tried fielding them with a mek in megaarmour and tellyporter, giving em the option to move and still shoot with bs3 (relentness) ...a pity that the tellyporter is so underwhelming.
abit of mathhammer
Spoiler:
following scenario:
18 shootaz nob with shoota, bosspole, bigchoppa 2 bigshootaz 177p VS. 8 flashgitz 176p
all in range, against T4 AS4+ #shots * BS * T * AS = wounds
I've been running mine in a squad of 5 in a Morkanaut and having them get out halfway up the table into some cover so they are in range of shooting everything and still having a cover save. So far I've seen them kill a squad of termies in one turn and a whole squad of tac Marines the next but on the otherhand I've seen them get stuck in the naut and never make it to shooting range before they all die.
You can take the man away from the nerds but you can't take the nerd out of the man.
Problem for the gitz for me is not the gitz themselves, but the fact that they compete with MANz for slots. If I ran gitz I'd probably go full squad with painboy and kff mek with finkin cap for the two layers of protection and a good chance to infiltrate right into position. Plus it they don't have to move they get da shooty skillz of a guardsmen like-a-boss.
Friendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings.
They compete not with manz. If they were elite, people would field them more often. The main problem is they compete with big gunz, wagons and deff dreads for a walker wall.
When you're running a mechanised list, you need both wagons and big guns and have no spare slots for anything else.
When you run footsloggas, here comes the problem that even tankbustas face. They need a battlewagon to operate at full strength, get in the right position and recieve some protection. And there's just no place for a single wagon in a footslogging list. While gits are not the best unit you can put in a single truck unlike meganobz or 'ard boyz.
Thus, they still remain a purely fun choice. The only more or less unique thing they can bring to the table is ability to severely hurt 2+ armor 1/3 of the time and laydown fire on t6 which boyz have problems killing. But once again, it's random. They'd be fine behind an aegis defence line or on a landing pad if the opponent was coming for you. But it doesn't happen every game. Especially with orkses.

They compete with wagonz cause your boyz can't ride flash gitz. Even though it'd be hilarious.
what i mean is, they dont compete with shootaz taking a battlewagon, since instead of the shootaz needing to take an support slot wagon, the gitz get it as a DT.
or taking a battlewagon as a gun platform.
but yes if you want that wagon filled with sluggaz, then its going to get cramped... thats why i said if you can spare a support slot
