I am in the process of starting A dark eldar force and I would like to get about 4 or 5 Grotesques. I see on GWs site that they are currently unavailable.
Anyone knows if this situation has been like this for a long time.
I also cannot see on the site if they are made of Fine casts, is it the case?
Finally, since it looks like a single model, can we change the pose or is it a monopose model?

It comes with some alternate bits, but it's monopose. Might check eBay. Or make your own out of Ogryn, Rat Ogres, or old Dreamblade minis like I did.

Yes, Grotesque is finecast, and as Jimsolo said, it has a couple of build options, but one pose only.

That kind of sucks that Grotesque is not available :X I hope they recast those into plastic. You might call around FLGS too, never know what Finecast stock is hanging around.

If I were gonna make grotesques I'd use the Vampire Counts crypt horror/vargheist kit, with left over Talos parts.

And Talys, in case you say anything... Yes that's one time where spare parts are useful

I'm really surprised that you can't buy a Grotesque, since it's a decent DE unit. I suppose emailing customer service would be a reasonable thing to do -- they're pretty responsive at GW. I've emailed them 3 times iin the last little while, and gotten a response back (written by a human) within a day every time. When I had a broken model from an SH box set, they FedExed me a replacement immediately.

Actually I second the crypt horror idea. I've seen those made with spare talos masks and they come out looking really slick.

Thanks for the ideas. I like the idea of using some Fantasy models. Are the offical models on 40mm bases?

"Thanks for writing in to us. Dark Eldar Incubi are expected back in stock on December 5th, and Grotesques on the 19th. Unfortunately, we've not been supplied with a restock date for Clawed Fiends. "
