Try the greenstuff industries/world tentacle makers, they're great! And you can also pick up pewter Dragon Forge designs power cables which are very bendable.

Green stuff tube tool, guitar string, and thin copper wire can all be used to make power cables.
Personally, I am a fan of using a tube tool since it mimics the GW style cables pretty well with the benefit of making them the length and thickness you want.

Pipe cleaners are the cheapest. Burn the fuzz off with a lighter. I used that on my dread heavy flamer (pics in my gallery). Guitar string looks best.

Guitar strings are horrible, or at least, they are very unkind to me :( I find them hard to cut and impossible to bend into an exact shape and have them stay that way, because they have a tendency to bend back. I mean, they are a sculpting nightmare... I rather make my power cables out of rolled greenstuff and notch them manually.
But alas, there is a better way. Rejoice, DragonForge makes pewter cast power cables in 3 different diameters (1.15 mm, 1.65 mm, and 2.15 mm diameter):

Better still, they are cheap. They come in 3 inch pieces and only $4.50-$5.00 for 10 pieces.

This is all true -- you need needle nose pliers (two pair ideally) or you're in for pain. On the flip side, they do look amazing when done right, and they're super cheap.

Two pairs of pliers and a good set of clippers (not the crap GW ones).
Local music store throws out broken ones - and allows me to go through the bins to get sections. I tend to use the thicker 'E' string and Bass strings - in the bronze wound or brass wound strings (not steel wound). They have a steel wire core, though.
I will use multiple strings for a cluster of cables for bigger things like battlesuits, though - rather than thicker ones - and regular electronic hookup wire for thicker tubes/cabling.
That's only because I have access to those things, though.

Guitar strings are great for long tubes, as they are consistent, but the downside is application of them can be a pain. bendy pipes, ive never used, but i think i'll give them a go.
However I do frequently use the greenstuff tube makers and they are effective, they allow you to make various diameters, lengths and styles, I even often mix the sizers to give me odd cables with alternaing ridges, cross knuckles and so forth. However, these require more skill compared to cutting a bendy wire to the right length and they are also greenstuff, so can potentially deform. Although the way around that is to roll them out, let them cure for awhile (dependant on size yada-yada), then once dry enough to prevent you squashing them but still flexible they can be put in place.
