I've been using dettol primarily, but it's a bit naff, so I decided to switch to fairy power spray, as I'd heard that it was a fair bit better, didn't burn your hands, and didn't stink, however I can't seem to find it anyway. I've checked Wilkinsons, the Co-op, Sainsbury, Tesco, and it's simply not in any of the sections, is it still a thing?
Is there someone else I can use? Or even source simple green in the UK?

I researched this before getting my last batch of Dettol and I read that very few places are now stocking it, which seems to be true in my neck of the woods as the local Asda, Tesco and Morrisons didn't have it.

Well, I was going to say use the company website to locate a store that its distributed to, but it seems like whomever at P&G neglected to include such a function in the supersavvyme. I know the Dawn webssite has a store finder over here to help us find Dawn Power Dissolver.
Have you tried asking the store managers where it might be found?

I got one recently, two or three months ago and I have seen it in other shops since.
However, to experiment on just how good Power Spray is, having seen it highly recommended in various threads, I put a space marine backpack into a pot of the stuff for twenty-four hours. Next day, the paint was completely solid and untouched.
So, I put it back in and left it for over a month. The Power Spray still had zero effect. I put the backpack into some Diall paint stripper which I get from B&Q (and which I normally use but the stuff is like snot and I thought the Power Spray might be better) for about two hours and the paint fell off in one big, disgusting skin.

In my local Sainsbury's, it's with the washing up liquid not the other cleaners.

I recommend biostrip:

It's probably a bit better than power spray, and it works great on plastic.

I've heard good things about the acetone free nail polish remover from Superdrug (as in the super drug own brand stuff). I've actually got a bottle of it for when I might next need to strip a model...
I might chuck something in it tonight and post result tomorrow if that'd be of any help?

I am assuming the acetone free means it wont melt your mini? As all previous other encounters with a nail polish remover have been very much a quick application to remove the paint, with extended dips resulting in a missing mini

I've used another brand's power degreaser and it worked just as well as Fairy.
If you're in the UK, you have a very cheap online supermarket where you can buy them (just google for it).

I might buy a selection of things then, and compare results. I had another scout around Wilkinson's, and asked a member of staff who said they didn't stock it anymore, and they didn't know why.
Maybe we should change the thread into a scientific enterprise to discover the best UK method of paint stripping?

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.
Excerpt from "Seeress of Kell", Book Five of The Malloreon series by David Eddings.

This, so many times this! The stuff is fantastic, and doesn't smell at all. As a bonus if you paint it on with an old drybrush it gets rid of a lot of the crusty paint, too.
It does state to use gloves, but my fingers haven't fallen off yet, so...

I used to use Dettol, and then power spray.
Both suck donkey when compared to simple pure Isoproyl Alcolhol. 99.9% pure, plastic is safe in it for periods of time I can't be bothered to measure - its too long. Paint starts coming away in seconds. The primer that dettol and fairy fail at, IPA does not fail at.
