So using the new toys going for a streamlined Competitive list that can even deal with a couple of Knights (which are always a huge issue for Nids). So here's the list (single CAD too):
Flyrant: Dakka, Electroshock 240
Flyrant: Dakka, Electroshock 240
Mucolid Spore 15
Mucolid Spore 15
5 Zoanthropes: Neurothrope; Tyrannocyte: Barbed Stranglers 375
5 Zoanthropes: Neurothrope; Tyrannocyte: Barbed Stranglers 375
Venomthrope 45
Carnifex: Dakka; Tyrannocyte 225
Carnifex: Dakka; Tyrannocyte 225
Bastion: Comms Relay 95
So good news is 2 Psychic Shrieks, 10 Warp Blast shots, 10 large blasts, 30 S5 shots, 48 S6 shots and 2 S8 Ap3 large blasts. That's good firepower and can potentially deal with anything I mean I have a realistic chance of killing 2 Knights in a single turn. However I only have 8 Warp Charge plus whatever the Neurothropes generate which is tight with 14 powers to choose from. Also the list is not hugely survivable if my opponent can afford to ignore the Tyrannocytes and I have 350 points tied up in MCs that can't assault.
What do you think would cause this list problems?

Problem number 1.
1. Cullexus assasin.
2. Tau.
I absolutely love the list though. I'm extremely excited to put Zoeys + Neuro in pods too.

The list isn't that reliant on Psykers and its not using blessings so a Culexus isn't that huge a problem. But he will be target number 1 for Dakka Flyrants and I can try to hold the Zoes in reserve until he's dead.
Yeah EWO will hurt. Just go for target saturation and hope for the best.

You might look at pulling one Zoey out of each Brood, that would give you a durable Synapse source in the backfield, and 2 more WC...? And it only costs one lance from each...

That would cost 30 points for the extra CAD and I have absolutely no need for backfield Synapse in this list as I have no backfield units. Only 5 lance shots already reduces my chances of killing a Knight going down to 4 means my whole list probably kills 1 Knight a turn rather than 2 and that is huge.

Not sure about that at all. 375 pts!!!!!! for a unit that WILL do nothing 33% of the time. And on top of that if you are playing against Grey Knights you may never resolve a spell.

Why do nothing 33% of the time? What do you mean? It gets 5 large blasts every turn (in the 375 points). Against Grey Knights I throw everything at Spiritleech and kill a unit gaining a load of extra dice for Warp Blast. Grey Knights are not my biggest concern, I'll cause a couple of wounds here and there and watch them flee the table.

I think it does regular Blasts. I think what he's referring to is the Roll to manifest, roll to hit, makes it hard to resolve, and vs a strong Psychic force you'll face a fearsome amount of Denied! Likewise, with only a few WC, it would be very hard to deny a foe, because you need WC for your own tricks.
But the Neurothrope does give the promise of stealing life force to feed Blasts/Lances.

Nope Barbed stranglers are large blasts. 8 WC isn't that low and denial has no impact on my ability to manifest. Yeah I will be out charged by Daemon Factory (not competitive), Grey Knights (not a massive problem due to SitW), Seercouncil (rarely seen these days). But most other lists won't start with much if anymore than 8 WC. If I had 130 points to add two back field zoes I would (upping me to 12 WC).

I will bet money that one of those 6 formations is a version of Drop Pod Assault, where everything has to Deep Strike or be in Pods.
So saying that. I think your army will be stronger than you think.
Otherwise yes, this is digustingly shooty and nasty ,although you may have some trouble atfirst with Serpent spam, I can't think of a army that would absolutely 100% be a counter to this.
The fact that you have Deep Strike now and can land on Objectives and hold them with Carnifexes along with everything else is pretty powerful.

Yeah Serpent Spam like Knight spam is an issue for Nids the idea would be to corale them with spods. Try to get rear armour shots and assault where possible. AT shooty is a big hole in the Nid arsenal, why did they have to nerf Hiveguard so much? Why not just go up 5 points or down 5 points and drop to Bs3, why go up 5 points drop Bs and get the option to spend another 5 points on a worse gun. Why? Why?!?!?! (Not that I'm bitter )
I think over all the list is as good as it can be against that type of army. Also remember the Tyrannocytes can move and grab objectives Automatically Appended Next Post: Also if true on the Formations I can drop the bastion and Comms for those extra Zoes to take me to 13-18 WC a turn.

I would say 100% your getting a Tyranid Assault version of Drop Pod assault in formation style, but who knows, I think it will happen though.
Which will make the army more powerful.

Quick question, how do you fit 4 Tyrannocyte pods without going into Primary AND Allied Detachments? Aren't they considered Heavy Support? With the 2 Carnofexes, that places you are 6 heavies. I thought they would be considered Dedicated Transported or something but it seems like they are Heavies (according to Army Builder). Of course, they have been wrong before! xD

Im on the fence with stranglers, in testing stranglers can be excellent but since there maximum move is 6" and they MUST shoot the nearest visible target, it is fairly easyto plant something near it like an empty rhino that it can hurt... for the rest of the game.
i have actually been considering venom cannons, just so that that event doesn't happen. But believe you me, I fully understand the draw of 5 large blasts. 4 games in though and I am starting to reconsider...

For that to work the Rhino must be the only thing near the spod as Iget to move before firing. If I had the points to upgrade the Carnifex Spods guns I would take Venoms on them. But with 10 Zoanthropes and 8 sets of Brainleech Devourers the horde control is needed. I don't think you auto go stranglers everytime but they are right in this list.

Magnets are everyones best friend. With my experience with pods, I find the Barbed stranglers often cause the pods to hit themselves, which isn't the best situation with 4+, although they rarely wound, it isn't pleasant when they do, so I'd probably just keep an eye out on that one.

Oh i fully understand, you do have a LOT of devourer fire, so your horde killing is not so bad. Trust me, I FULLY understand the draw of the stranglers, I also understand what a previous poster said about rebounding strangler shots (though I am not so worried about that). In my experience, keep in mind this is only 4 games, the nature of deep striking the pods is that I am in almost all circumstances less concerned with the targets for the pod and more concerned for the guys inside, so the pod just kinda...shoots at whatever. I am going to try the venom cannons this weekend, but hopefully that will at least make the pod able to engage more targets.

I like your lists that you've made, but I am kind of curious as to what you'll do with the new Tyranid Detachment and Warlord Traits that they are getting because that gak is boss. 6 new Formations!!
1 of which is a Hive Tyrant with ablative Gargoyles.

Yeah I am super curious about those formations because the Dark Eldar formations were all really great and just "fit" so hopefully Tyranids will get the same treatment and not anything lame duckish.
Also, the new Warlord Traits , that's gotta be interesting.

Looking at the now formations here's how I'd change the list (no DP Assault Formation )
Flyrant: Dakka, Electroshock 240
Flyrant: Dakka, Electroshock 240
Mucolid Spore 15
Mucolid Spore 15
5 Zoanthropes: Neurothrope; Tyrannocyte: Venom Cannons 375
5 Zoanthropes: Neurothrope; Tyrannocyte: Venom Cannons 375
Carnifex: Dakka; Tyrannocyte 225
Carnifex: Dakka; Tyrannocyte 225
ADL: Comms Relay 70
SPORE FIELD
3 x 1 Mucolid 45
3 x 3 Spore Mines 45
That Spore Field just seems to good! It also gives me the Horde control allowing me to switch to Venoms on the Tyrannocytes. No where to Hide Flyrants turn 1 is a shame but I'm getting so much for it.

In the Spore Field Formation, after you roll the 4+, how are they deployed? The first round is Infiltrated in, but how is the next wave deployed? From table edge? If so, I don't see how effective they are.
