I've heard people refer to this type of list with a daemon army but have no idea what it consists of?
On another note, for friendly games, can you pretty much use any combination of God's in daemons to have a decent game? Or is it still recommended that you primarily use Tzeentch

A Screamerstar is a large unit of Screamers of Tzeench, joined by as many Heralds of Tzeench as you have a mind to put in there.
Heralds roll enough on Divination to get Forewarning, have a Herald with Grimoire of True Names. Bamm, 2++ re-rollable.

Ahhhh I see. Don't the screamers have like ap2 in combat too? That's pretty nasty.
Are there a lot of tricks like that with daemons?

You also may have Fateweaver in the army for his re-roll to stop the Grimoire failing.

Not sure I understand the question as if it's a friendly game then surely anything goes? There is more to the book than Tzeentch though. Nurgle Daemon Princes with a 2+ jink are great, Khorne Heralds on Juggernauts are scary, big packs of Khorne dogs are scary, etc. I think the Daemon codex has rather poor internal balance. Their are some very powerful builds like Screamerstar and Flying Circus, but also many units which just don't work e.g. melee units which can only move 6" and expensive multi-wound T4 models.

It's not that I'm after the best build ever. But I like the idea of tricks and synergy in an army.
I recently picked up the grey knight rulebook; as they're my favourite form of marine... and I'm a little bit disappointed with them. Simply for the fact that I picked out 9 units in the entire book that I'd consider using (Excluding razorbacks, rhinos, even land raiders, as I prefer Stormraven)
When I started looking at daemons I loved the look of 90% of the models. Like plague bearers, daemon princes, skarbrand, great unclean ones, fateweaver, plague drones. Pretty much everything. And seen as though I don't play in a competitive environment, I had a couple of friends advise me picking the book up (my friends know that.. I suppose daemonic stuff has always appealed to me).
So as long as I can have fun playing with a larger variety of good looking models I'm. A happy chappy

It's a unit used by people that want to win at all costs by twisting, bending, and exploiting every rule they can to achieve that end.
Don't be a Win At All Costs player. You'll lose friends and become a pariah in your FLGS.

I have no intention I was just enquiring. But surely if it'd possible with one unit. Your army is capable of buffing other units and such?

It's a confluence of rules interactions that allow this abomination to exist (see what I did there? ). And no, it's unique to Screamers.

That's not true, at least not anymore. The Screamerstar has lost a lot of it's former thunder. They cannot easily get a 2+ invulnerable save anymore (Grimour is done before the Psychic Phase, ergo it cannot be paired with Forwarning), with the only way being having Grimour go off and Cursed Earth, which you can save your dice to deny. Also remember Psykers in the same unit cannot manifest the same power, no more can you have 3 Heralds pumping out 12 D6 Str 5 shots, you can only fire it once.
The screamerstar is not the beast it once was, i wouldn't even call it competitive anymore and anyone who calls it power gaming is stuck in last edition. If you want to run a Screamerstar run with with a single Herald with Prescience and 6 Screamers as a small TEQ unit or Tank Hunter unit. Spend the rest of your points on other things.
Also, Tzeentch is no longer the top dog anymore. Nurgle rules the roost, with Daemon Princes that come with a 2+ cover save base (Jinking + Shrouded). Khorne Dogs now provide the best Deathstar type unit simply because when running with a Herald, they are a good unit even without buffs. This edition encourages using different Gods, not discourages it.

There's nothing stopping the unit existing in another form. You could replace the Screamers with Flamers, it just wouldn't be as good.
It should still be pretty potent in 7th. It can still get 2++ rerollable, it can shoot in the psychic phase (S6 with that Locus btw) and turbo boost in the shooting phase, it can now summon.
