Looks pretty nice, personally I'd drop one Crone, and spend elsewhere, but that is kinda "just me". Self allies are a special allowace, by RAW, it's not allowed. If you like the Flying Circus, why not take a look at Skyblight. It is not as shiney as it was, but it is still a strong Formation.

It looks like your sole reason for the Ally is to get an extra slot or two, Formations can help you with that, or run x2 CAD. To get a double CAD you just need one more Troop, that should be pretty easy.

In my meta they allow Nids a self ally. What would you switch the Crone with?

I looked at skyblight but it is such a point sink and I am not impressed with the Harpy. To me it seems the weaker of the two FMC. Could be wrong though.

It depends. It's a good 'crowd control' bug, especially with cluster spines added. I'd agree it's the weaker, but then it's also the cheaper.

The crone is good, but specialised. If there aren't any flyers (or it's killed them all) then it won't do a great deal.

If I have to take specialist bugs, then taking the one which specialised in killing infantry from a safe distance strikes me as the more tactically useful...

Also, if you demote one crone to a harpy, you can afford a few upgrades for the tyrannofex. If you've still kept the acid spray, then spending points on a thorax swarm for a second template weapon massively increases its threat level for not many points at all.

I'd want more Troops, but that is really a "style" thing....and I'd toss a Thorax Hive on everybody who could take one.

Skyblight is not as "shiney" as it was, but it still puts three Broods of Objective secured Gargoyles with a chance to "re-spawn" on the table. I dunno, Harpies do kinda "under-whelm" but maybe they can be a sort of MSU hunter... They can certainly scrub pesky Pods off of VP locations....and TL blasts, plus a spore bomb has got to be useful ...doesn't it?
