In Imperial Armor 13, Blight Drones are listed as Deamons of Nurgle, so their wounds should be able to feed Epidemius' wound counter. Is this a viable tactic and what else do I need to create the most synergy?

I would not know where to begin on answering this question.

Yes, Blight Drones are Daemons of Nurgle, and Epidemius will benefit from every wound they cause. However.... for the drones to benefit from the count, they need to be within 6 inches of Epidemius. He's not going to be able to keep up with them going across the board.

If there's a way to run him with Blight Drones, it's as part of a triangle, where he has a bodyguard that just keeps getting tougher while the Blight Drones cause havoc on other parts of the board. I guess plaguebearers could be a good compliment, but I look at it as a waste. I guess he could stand near some Plague Marines without joining the squad, maybe surrounded by Plague Bearers, but that sounds expensive.

Epidemius was cooler in previous editions.

Yes, i agree that he was more useful in earlier editions. Not sure the idea is really that viable, but thought it could be fun. Maybe stick him in a bastion for protection and to improve his range. Blight drones have pretty good range. Throw some cheap units, like plague zombies outfront ...

See, what I am thinking is, this could work out great against horde armies but be ready hard against shooty armies. Seems risky.
