Hello everyone. This is my first post on Dakka Dakka brought about by the fact that I keep losing games. A lot. I'm not very good at army lists so I'm after general advice on on how to win, amazingly. This list I'm posting is my current list at the moment. Personally I think it needs more Boyz and I'm sure a lot of you will concur. Anyway, any advice will be greatly valued and hopefully it might mean that I'll win a game or two. Yeah...

+++HQ+++
>Mad Dok Grotsnik, 160pts

+++Troops+++
>Boyz x20 with two Big Shootaz, Shootaz, Nob, Big Choppa, Boss Pole, Twin-Linked Shoota, 175pts
>Boyz x20 with two Rokkit Launchaz, Nob, Power Klaw, Bosspole, 175pts
>Boyz x20 with two Rokkit Launchaz, Nob, Power Klaw, Bosspole, 175pts

+++Elites+++
>Nobz x10 with three Power Klawz, Twin-Linked Shoota, two Big Choppaz, 'eavy Armour, two Boss Poles, 320pts

+++Fast Attack+++
>Stormboyz x13 with a Nob, Power Klaw, Bosspole, 157pts

+++Heavy Support+++
>KIlla Kanz x3 with a Kustom Mega Blasta, Rokkit Launcha, 160pts
>Lootaz x10, 140pts

-1482pts-

As you might have noticed there is 18pts leftover. I don't know what to do with this. Anyway, this list isn't exactly top-notch. It NEEDS more Boyz badly. Maybe I should lose some Nobz. I don't know. Over to you guys. And thanks in advance for any advice.

Red ones go fasta!. At least if they're strawberries.

Another Loota or two more stormboyz.

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

I would say:

Lose the nobs. Waste of 320 points in my opinion.

Lose the kans. They are easily picked apart.

Lose Grotsnik. He is awesome on paper, but your opponents will simply focus on the units which do not have feel no pain and fearless, and then jump his unit with their whole army.

I'm not really a fan of stormboyz, but , if it helps keep the pressure on, they could work.

Lootas are useful. Maybe 5 more.

I like: tankbustas in trukks. 6 or 9 in a trukk is a fantastic unit. Run multiples. I run three.

Bikes are great. Warboss and pain boy on bike. Unit of 7 warbikes with PK nob. Throw in biker boss Zhadsnark (free download from Forgeworld) for a nasty death star.

These are the things which work for me. Well balanced. Fast. Takes on most everything.

i don't like the footslogging hordes anymore
. I've got alot of succes with boys and tank busta's in trukks and battlewagons.

Just try to make a speed freaks list with transports, (nob) bikes, deffkoptas and a bit of support from mek guns/lootas and you'll be okay

8000 points fully painted
hive fleet belphegor 3500 points
1k sons killteam

Dakka is the ork word for shooting, but the ork concept of shooting is saturation fire. Just as there is no such thing as a "miss" in a target-rich environment, there is no such thing as a "dodge" in a bullet rich one

Thanks everyone for all the replies. It's really great to get some advice out of people who know their stuff. Chaos Legionnaire, I do think like the idea of Tankbustaz and Lootaz although I want to stay away from Trukkz and other such thing as when I started Orkz I specifically wanted to create a footsloggin' mob. I should have mentioned this in the original post, sorry. This is also the reason why I went for some Kanz as I wanted some heavy weapons and I liked the high (for the Orkz) Ballistic Skill. Bear in mind this was during 6th edition so back then the Big Gunz weren't as appealing. I absolutely will get rid of the Dok as he has never really helped out. I'm not really sure what to do with the Nobz as they have been useful in the past.

Anyway, with the footsloggin' theme that I just mentioned (and really should have put in the original post) does anyone have any idea of were I should go with this? Also, does anyone know of a good use of Nobz? That would be very helpful as well.

Take my advice with a grain of salt, seeing as I'm just starting to play around with learning about the strengths of an Ork list, but I've been particularly interested in the Green Tide formation. You can get a giant squad of 100-300 Boyz and take another detachment with Mad Dok and some other things to add onto the tide. My first thoughts would be to use the Nobz as you upgrades to each squad of Boyz, maybe something like this?

Green Tide Formation
Warboss - power klaw, big bosspole, 'eavy armor
Boyz (10) - Nob w/ power klaw & bosspole, squad 'eavy armor
Boyz (10) - Nob w/ power klaw & bosspole, squad 'eavy armor
Boyz (10) - Nob w/ power klaw & bosspole
Boyz (10) - Nob w/ power klaw
Boyz (10) - Nob w/ power klaw
Boyz (10) - Nob w/ power klaw
Boyz (10)
Boyz (10)
Boyz (10)
Boyz (10)

Then your other detachment contains Mad Dol and maybe another Painboy for redundancy, (maybe add more boyz to the squads in the tide too?) and you take lots of Lootas and whatever other requirements for the force org? Just a thought.. like I said I'm still learning too.

More boyz with choppas, or choppas in a trukk. Lose the nobs as they NEVER do anything without bikes. Also put a klaw instead of the big choppa. Finally, drop the Stormboyz for a Deff Dread. I love them.

If you can't believe in yourself, believe in me! Believe in the Dakka who believes in you!

Ok, so lose the Nobz, Grotsnik and get more Boyz, Lootaz and Tankbustaz. I'll need a Warboss as well.

Is this better? I think it is. Anyway, I do like my Kanz and they can be useful sometimes so I'm keeping them. And I also like my Stormboyz for the same reason. I do realise that there are better units but I want to keep these guy's anyway. You can always argue against this if you want of course.

xTHExCLINCHERx I would like to stick to something similar to my existing army list and don't want to go up in points at the moment as I'm pretty sure that it would take more points to do what your suggesting then their limits. Nonetheless I do appreciate the advice. I do like the idea of the Dok and a Painboy in the other detachment though. The idea sounds good.

if you want to footlogg i would generally prefer full slugga mobs, since they will need every ork when they reach CC. (a slugga mob with enough orks can deal with any target ...given enough time)

anyway loose the rokkits with the sluggaz. you want to run with em every round anyway.

give every nob at least a free shoota.

you cant have two relics on the same character.

in case of an eavy armour warboss, always take a mek to take up the invetible challenges.

also if you running massive ork mobs, gretchin are always usefull for the mobile cover they provide

my suggestion:
Spoiler:
Warboss with Da Lucky Stikk, Power Klaw, 'eavy Armour, BP, Shoota 120pts
painboy 50

mek 15

10 gretchin 35

to tell the truth i dont like the kans in this list. the great advantage of footslugging orks is, that your opponents heavy antitank weapons are useless. so he has wasted many points to kill of a couple of orks per turn. in this case however the kans will be pulverized, because they are the only target of said weapons.

if i were you i would loose the kans and instead:
a) invest in more boyz, i.e. a second shoota mob (just loose 1 or 2 stormboyz or lootaz)
b) take some outflanking units, i.e. koptaz, skorchaz, kommandoz to harrass the enemy lines while the orks make their way foward
c) take more some anti tank stuff, like koptaz, buggies
d) get something fast to distract/harrass the enemy and take focus away from your main force (bikes, manz, trukkboyz, dakkajets)
