Just a quick question. I was scanning through my new 7th Ed Ork Codex. so far, I've only seen Big Meks that can take the Gifts.

Also, can you take more than one Gift per army (I recall it says not more than one of each)

page 116.

Only one of each of the following may be taken per army.
A model can take one of the following...

Warbosses and big meks can take gfts.

so that means I could have a Warboss take one gift, and a Big mek a different trait, right?

Yes, each gift is unique.
One per model (those that are allowed), no duplicates.

But whover takes "Da Finkin Cap" has to be the warlord!

Which is kind of frustrating when you want your warlord to have Da Lucky Stikk or da Killchoppa.

That's why you don't see anything other than DLS or DFK. Even though all the gifts are great by themself. Other stuff has no place. If painboyz could take gifts, i'd run them with Dead Shiny Shoota or killchoppa all day long.

Hell yeah!
The Dead Shiny Shoota has totally his place among a Shootas squad. But, as said, unfortunately, only WB or BM have access to it.

Why can't you have a Big mek in a mob of Shoota Boys?

You can, but usually the BM is my warlord, so he get DLS or DFK instead
Or he got a SAG.

But of course, a BM KFF i.e. can have a DSShoota.

Just curious, is it possible to use all (6?) gifts of gork and mork by opening up enough detachments to get 6 HQ's?

Also.. Ork detachment takes DLS and then 'Allied' detachment from W!G has an HQ that takes Mega Force Field. This legal?

Not that I'd do such a thing it's just I'm not so sure of my options and I like to know.

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

Answered that yourself if you can get enough HQ's then yes!

Also.. Ork detachment takes DLS and then 'Allied' detachment from W!G has an HQ that takes Mega Force Field. This legal?
When you say "Allied" detachment, I assume you don't mean Allied Detachment? Because you can't take that, as it will have the same faction (Orks) as your primary. Also you can never take the relics from the Ghazghkull book in an Allied Detachment, as it isn't a Detachment from that book (it's from the rulebook).

However, if you meant take an Ork Detachment with DLS, then take a Great Waaagh! Detachment (or Formation from that book), then yes!

Not that I'd do such a thing it's just I'm not so sure of my options and I like to know.
Why not? Perfectly legal, and it's not that cheesy other armies can make some brutal combos, this isn't that bad.

my opinion of "da thinkin kap" is that its by far the most valuable of the gifts. the strategic traits benefit the orks on a grand scale. i always take it, and put it on a bigmek (thus resulting on him being my warlord). my playstyle usually deosnt use the waaaagh, so i havent put it on a warboss yet (but i will be trying that soon). i suggest trying a few lists where your warlord has the thinkin kap, keep him out of harms way, works best if he can be a support role (kff or sag bigmek, maybe a warboss attached to a shooty unit like lootas, who often desperately need a good ld and bosspole).

if you dont like the idea of a bigmek being your warlord, just think of it differently. he's the brainz of the operation and the warboss may lead the boyz to the fray, but the bigmek suggests strategies to him over the radio. or try a backfield objective camping warboss who directs his forces using the inspirations of da thinkin kap, if you think its not like a normal warboss, then just remember that ghazkull thrakka often fought like that, directing warbosses under him and giving them control over portions of his waaagh, rarely did he get involved personally, and it was only for the most difficult of fights that needed on the site direction. actually, now that i think about it, ill definitely try a ma warboss with thinkin kap in the backfield, who only gets involved when the enemy deepstikes or outflanks (and lets face it, the enemy always does that so he can get linebreaker and objectives).

"dont put all yer boyz in one trukk" "umless its dredds, then take as much uf those as possible"
