I was wondering what you guys thought and which army you hate and love to play against the most. For me its Grey Knights for hate; I cannot stand them, they are so unfun and extremely monotonous to play against, especially with their cheesy allies and that god-awful Dreadknight!

For love, its probably Chaos (so long as they don't use a Daemon factory list); they're just fun to play against IMO as they have marines (but not chapter tactic shenanigans), have cool Daemon stuff and cultists. The Helbrute formations whilst very strong are also pretty cool to play against.

Post which armies you love and hate to play against the most.

*bursts though room with axe* HEEEAAARRRS JHONNY!!!

I like playing against many factions but I suppose my favorite is playing against Tyranids, Orks or Astra Militarum, because I just love seeing and playing conversions on the table and I like fighting against hordes because of the amount of bodies I can blow up

I dislike playing against Eldar and Tau because I dislike Bladestorm and how much shooting capabilities the Tau can pull off..

That being said I like playing against Eldar Waithwalls because its a joy to see Waith imo..

Dislike- grey knights. This is due to finding the army repetitive and a little boring to go against basically only facing multiple dk and a few buddies trailing behind.

Favorite- probably nids, who doesnt like to see a horde of bugs running at you with a few large ass mother fuc ers mixed in? :p

Dislike: Nids, I just hate them, and I play IG/AM. The whole formation thing that gives shroud just irritates me.

Favorite: Any SM army. It is funny to hear them complain about all the AP1/2 that the IG has access too. Then hearing them whine about no armor save.

I'm sure this will be a resounding choice in the thread but I dislike playing against Tau even if I do play the army myself I haven't played them as much as I used to because I know of the sheer amount of cheese they bring to be effective and how easy it is for them to do so.

I do however enjoy playing Eldar and Tyranids because they are clever armies. They have to be played just right to secure a win(barring spammed units) and as an opponent to these armies the way they are built presents their own objectives (removing synapse creatures or venomthropes or taking out hard targets like wave serpents and wraithguard/lord/knights.)

Hate - Grey knights, just overall boring. Paladins, DK, and there HQs just arent enjoyable to play against win or lose.

Love - Nids, it's just cinematic to see a horde of bugs charging at you, plus there models look awesome too.

Hate with a passion: Tau - I simply despise Tau. The look of them, the idea of them. Worst of all, all the 2++ re-rollable saves, the endless shooting from miles away, interceptor this and markerlight that.

Dislike playing against Daemons and Eldar, they have so many jammy rules

How do the Tau get a re-rollable 2++ save?

Who gets 2+ re-rollable saves?! The Riptide can get a 2+ armor save and a 5+ invulnerable save but that's it?

Personally for me I Love playing armies like Tyranids and Orks for the look and theme of the army and just how awesome they look on the table top. I also like playing armies like Eldar and Grey Knights because they are strong so it forces me to bring my A game against them most of the time.

Army I despise the most, Space Marines. Not for what they can bring to a game or how they look or even their fluff, but for the fact that there are so many Space Marine armies and players out there that playing them over and over again does get a little repetitive.

In a way I love playing against Tau, because an alpha strike Drop Pod list decimates them most of the time. This however stems from the fact that I hate static gunline armies, which is why I often play lists that crush them. So I guess I love and hate them at the same time.

I love playing against Orks, because I know there'll be a lot of proper fighting and casualties. They look cool, and Ork armies tend to have a lot of fun variety.

CSM are also fun to play againt, as it's my primary army and it's interesting to see how other people use the army.

I dislike playing against Knghts, but that's mostly because I have bad luck with the explosions landing on top of my guys

Tau can also be dull, but playing modified Maelstrom forces them to be more active and not a static gunline, which is more fun.

GK, because there is no way to hide from 3 NDKS or protect my troops from them and when two pods are added to that it is more or less turn 1 win, if my friend goes first.
Eldar, because they both out shot me and out melee my IG and ignore the mechanics that are suppose to help my dudes survive.
To the rest am more or less in different. Problem is out of my 4 opponents 2 play eldar , 1 plays GK and the fourth plays nids, which aren't OP, but very good at killing IG stuff.

Hate: Superheavy/IK/RipWraithDreadFMC lists. If it's got 1-3 big giant models comprising the majority of the points, then a couple piddly min sized troop squads I'm gonna be bored. Inevitably the game comes down to: turn 1, whatever anti-heavy weapons I brought concentrate and take down one thing, or they aren't enough and I may as well concede immediately. Turns 2-5, he rolls a bucket of dice and I roll a bucket of saves while I try sitting on more objectives than him. I have about a 50-50 winrate but gods those games suck. Anyone who thinks "I don't feel like playing a tactical miniatures game so I'll just bring one transformers action figure sized model and spend my turn making exactly one decision" I'm just not interested in playing. The only thing those lists are good for is picking on newer or younger players who don't construct good TAC lists and don't know what to do against a model they can't kill.

Love: playing against varied TAC lists of any army. Spam lists are marginally less dull because at least they can make a few decisions mid-game and they aren't tied to a single path of where they must stand and what they must shoot but I'll always prefer playing someone who brings a variety of units and I'll always gladly tone my own list down to accommodate someone willing to actually give me an enjoyable game rather than "durr I bet you didn't plan on FOUR WAVE SERPENTS hurhurhur" "yes, I did, fine get them out I'll play this game again."

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

I oddly don't dislike playing against any army!! Sometimes Eldar can be a little annoying, but I guess you just have to soldier on.

My favourite army to play against is probably Tau - they offer a fairly serious amount of competition so I really have to try and get around them. (I also, personally, love the Tau aesthetics and a guy I play a fair amount has an amazing paint scheme)

Otherwise I guess I find the hard fought battles to be the most enjoyable in a way!! Any army that is a real challenge I will (hopefully) enjoy playing against!!

I always try to keep this up to date with what projects I'm working on... but they just keep piling up

I actually quite like playing tau. I find most of their armies to be very static, and quite predictable. It's very satisfying to see my daemon cavalry rolling up up their gunline and tabling them.

In a similar vein of logic, I hate playing eldar. They are very difficult to pin down with so many maneuverability options. 48 move jetbikes are a pain to get rid of, and their serpents provide very capable mobile firepower. In their current state they really have no shortcommings.

Love playing against them all with the right opponent, if i had to choose personal favourite it would be Nids, i love seeing all those little bugs across the table.

Least favourite is Eldar, they just seem to do everything slightly better then other armies, i especially dislike Battle Focus.

That being said our Eldar player is a really nice guy so it is still fun just frustrating more to play against his army.

Love orks. I play DA, so the classic fight of marines against a mob of a hundred orks is always satisfying. That, and they really move around a lot and play tactically. I'd say that I honestly like any army that moves around a lot (eldar, demons).

What I hate is gunlines. Tau sitting in the corner, even if I win, is just a boring game to me. If you're not holding an objective, you should be moving forward onto the board. I've seen a game go turn 4 before a Tau unit moves.

In terms of general dislike, I don't like playing against other marines or guardsmen. Marine v marine just gets boring fast (stand 10 feet apart and just shoot each other for 5 turns, or run in and attempt to punch each other for 5 turns). Guardsmen fit that dislike of gunline. And any proper imperial should hate to kill anyone else that is a follower of the Emperor. I always have to tell myself they're secretly heretics.

Like: Necrons, Space Marines, Imperial Guard, Old DE, Orks and 30k Legion armies! even like some old Eldar lists I'll explain in a moment.

Dislikes: Nurgle. Emperor Damn I hate those guys. Just the way they can't die and the friggen heldrakes they bring is just a pain in the ass. I think I only had one fun game against them.

Eldar lists that mainly comprise of unkillable vehicles and models. It seems there is almost no fun way to play against this and it's just angers me to think about playing against them. no weaknesses at all it feels.

Mainly hate armies I can't do at least a little damage too while they dish out the pain constantly, despite me bringing a "good" list.

I know I'm in the minority... but I like PA vs PA battles. I hate playing armies that are gimmicks, using an obscure rule to some exploit. It's not because that is in and of itself bad, but more often than not the other player uses the rule incorrectly (and to greater benefit )that means inquisition and multiple allies are my least favorite.
