I love playing against medium tank spam (Predators and such), and most "balanced" all comers lists (yes, even the Tau ones!).
I play CSM (and sometimes Scions and Deathwing) in an all comers list, and find those the most fun to play against.
They usually make for interesting anough games

I hate playing against spam lists (guard blobs, marine spam, most horde lists...). They just get really boring to play against after a bit, as you already know what you'll be fighting: more of the same...
Most really competitive Tau/GK/Eldar/Daemon factory/Knight lists are really horrible to play against: either they're spam lists, or they are centered around one or two big models that you either kill before turn 2 (3 when I play Nurgle); or most of your army is gone and this big gribbly and its few tagalong squads can just mop up your army and take objectives.

Most recently, I despise Imperial Knights when they number 3+. As I (and my local club) begin to build lists for the next big tournament, that may change.

I sincerely enjoy playing any reasonably themed (i.e. not min-maxed) army; Dark Eldar, Necrons, Imperial Guard, Space Marines, Orks (Orks!), Tau. I recently lost to a Black Templar list with Helbrecht, and had a good time doing it!

If I had to pick just one Codex though, it would be Dark Eldar: I have a perfect score against Dark Eldar (with my Eldar, of course) going back about two years now. It gives me great pleasure to punish my Dark Kin for their transgressions, past, present and future!

Well they're also PA, so I'm torn. I do get to play Khorne v GK every now and then, but the GK gimmicks seem more annoying for their player than me. But yeah, I don't put GK at the top of a "favorite to play" list.

Love: Space Marines. The whole reason I chose Daemons as an army is because the generic super soldier archetype bores me and I hate how much GW focuses on them as a "protagonist" army. With Daemons I get to be their biggest enemy and act smug when their 3+ armor saves count for nothing as a unit of Bloodcrushers stampedes through their line.

Hate: Space Marines (or any shooty army). I hate having to spend the first two turns of any game doing nothing but rolling for anal circumference while the other guy sits a gunline in a corner to take easy shots like a baby. If I'm not within range with AP3 it feels like nothing gets accomplished on my turns as the majority of damage I deal is just saved by armor.

Also add necrons to the hate list as spammed 3++ Wraiths and reanimation/ghost arks have the same "nothing useful is ever accomplished on my turns until I get to melee" feeling.

Ad Lance needs more hate. So that, I hate playing an all baby titan list.

Hate: basically all SM varients, very dull armys with good at pretty much anything, as well as nearly everyone plays one
Love: any xeno, favourite is orks v daemons, so much wacky fun and randomness

There are a few gunline armies out there run in particular by IG and Tau but yes for the most part Gunlines have gone away for the most part. Honestly I have never played against or seen a Tau gunline list in my local meta or the other stores/events ive been to. Most Tau lists have been "Fish of Fury" or "Suit Heavy" lists but always mobile.

Like: Space Marines that aren't painted Ultramarines
Dork Angels (because I love their fluff and playing them)
Legion of the Damned because of awesome models
(NOBODY EXPECTS THE) Imperial Inquisition
Anybody who uses Officio Assassinorum allies (again, awesome models)
Armies with really good paint jobs

TBH I don't dislike a lot of armies.

I dont care. I'll play any army. I'm more worried about the person playing it.

I've played against a total of 4 armies in the past decade. Space Marines (vanilla), Eldar (one game), Orks, and Imperial Guard (maybe a single game, if that).

Space Marines weren't fun to play against at the end because she almost always brought a big unit of Honor Guard and my AP 1/2 firepower was limited to a handful of meltaguns and several multi-meltas. Then I got a Battle Conclave, two Penitent Engines and an Exorcist. Then she stopped using the Honor Guard altogether. But before the whole Honor Guard thing it was pretty fun. I should probably let her know that a Battle Conclave can't effortlessly wipe out an Honor Guard unit anymore, because they have, at best, power swords, which no longer negate the 2+ saves of the Honor Guard.

Eldar... I don't really remember much, apart from calculating that her transports could move up to 36" in one turn and despite seeing it in the book and adding it all up right, it just seemed... wrong, somehow, like I'd missed some restriction somewhere. (this was back in 5th if it matters)

Orks were pretty fun to play against. They almost always loved moving forward to try to get into combat, which was great because I love it when the choppy stuff clashes in the middle. I got a Big Mek with Shokk Attack Gun. Saw a 1,1 on its first game. Next game it saw a 6,6. Always a fun piece of equipment to have around, even when it's pointed at you and it gets a spectacular hit, I could revel in how awesome that was.

Imperial Guard I didn't get to fight against much. My mom swapped to them after getting a bit bored with the Orks, which was well after I'd started to lose interest in tabletop gaming (though I still like to pop onto Dakka and see what's up, maybe read some arguments, see if there's anything new about plastic Sisters of Battle since I don't know where the GW devs communicate with the fans, and if it turns out to be on Twitter, well, feth Twitter. More than half the time the e-mails I get from Twitter are about news stuff, which is odd since I don't think I subscribed to any news thingies on Twitter... or anywhere else). One thing I didn't like was how they sat back in their table edge and just shot my forces up with their long-ranged stuff while I closed in. It reminds me of fighting a 1v1 against a Hunter on my Enhancement Shaman in WoW. Not a perfect analogy, but being out of range half the time kinda fits the bill.

Keep in mind, the last time I actually played a game was a couple of years ago.

I hate playing Tau and Necron. Necron because of all the crap they have (every leader gets MSS and the S8 AP1 Warscythe) and Tau because of their overwatch shenanigans. Remove that and I wouldn't hate playing them. But when CC is their only weakness and I'm penalized for charging them (supporting fire, grav drone) why bother?

I really like playing Dark Eldar and Nids. They play so uniquely from other armies and I love it.

I hate Maelstrom missions in general.

Specifically when playing against Eldar specifically since with Maelstrom it seems the objectives were designed to suit them.

Eldar is not fun to play against. units should either be A) shooty but not assaulty B) assaulty buy not shooty or C) okay at both but not amazing not "Eldar be great at literally everything!"

Honestly I think everything currently wrong in the game can be summed up with Eldar.

I barely have time to play a game, let alone paint my models to a respectable level. Just be glad people go through the time and effort of painting their models, which is more than I can currently manage.

I completely agree with that statement and you summed it up quite well.

I dislike playing against CSM, the 2+ jink toughness 9 MCs get old when spammed fast. i dislike Guard but that is probably because the person who plays guard in my area is very annoying.

I really dislike playing necrons. They don't have very thrilling units I feel. Tired of the wraithstar and CCB. Flying croissants. And tesla. Why should you be rewarded for jinking by getting more hits then you usually would.

Also dislike deathstar armies. The game usually comes down to dice more so than usual. Are your dice hot? Death star is unkillable. You having a bad day? Looks like this game is clean up as your expensive unit had a bad round of saves.

Otherwise I enjoy most other armies and builds.

Well if you do the math, they (Tesla Destructors) average 1 less hit snap shooting than normal shooting, it just seems like more. But it will get nerfed through the floor soon anyway

I'm confused, what do you mean by that?

I hate playing against Necrons, everything in that outdated book is just slowed, ignores v6/v7 rules ,etc. That will pass with the new codex I hope.

Are those good assault Eldar units in a digital supplement nobody's ever heard of ?

Ever since 3rd edition I've hated playing against the Tau and that hasn't really changed hah.
