Update 3 of this conversion : http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/626484.page#7430652

I've been working on a conversion for the last couple days, and after a lot of trial and error I have gotten it to the stage where its actually "begun". So I thought I should post up WIP pics as I go, and hopefully keep myself motivated! (As well as get some good suggestions and advice maybe)

I'm aware that these are all pretty rough, as I said this is my first proper conversion attempt, which is why I'm doing it on an old raider model instead of something more... curvy and complicated (Like the new raider model...)

I fully expect this to end up looking a bit shoddy and boxy... but luckily that will still look pretty orkish so its hard for me to go too far wrong

The pics at the moment are largely mocked up, with the framework held in place with bluetack while I work out shapes and dimensions etc. The "panels" are cut from paper, so I could get the rough shape right. My next step would be to trace the shapes onto the plasticard and cut them out. They will require a slight curve, so I think some boiling water will come into it somewhere along the road.

I'm vaguely happy with the rotor, my first plasticard creation haha. The blob of bluetack is a placeholder for a little domed "cap" I plan to make out of greenstuff (when it turns up in the mail). I have also cut out some of the jagged shapes that the deffkoptas have on their rotors, but they arent stuck on yet. (Those were a real pain in the behind to do lol)

Here are the pics, they are on photobucket 'cos it was easier...

Oh, and ignore the shoddy paintjob. This raider is a few years old and was never really "finished". Suffice to say, it'll be getting repainted.

Great concept! Kind of brings to mind the Forge World Chinork Copta.

That's good, cos that's probably what it will end up being fielded as

And now, a couple days later, here are a couple picture of it ... maybe 50% complete?

Not the best of pictures but you can see the changes at least haha. Still needs a couple more glyphs, and a pilot and crew, and the basecoats will need a wash or two, and some weathering.... so lots to do lol. But it's getting there!

Nice conversion. What are you running this as? A really big deffkopta?

Just remember: Da Red Paint makes it go fasta!

Also, needs rivets.

Probably be running it as a Chinork Warkopta

If you look closely at the pic with the yellow metal panel repair job bit, you'l see I have started putting rivets on haha, though they are fairly small. The whole thing will be getting a badab brown wash after its finished, so hopefully that will make them show up a little better.

May try adding some larger rivets later on too. Since posting this I have added a couple more orky glyphs and things, as well as touching up the paintjob.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Ok I think I have finished the main bulk of the kopta, at least as far as I can do for now. I still need to add crew and weapons, but those will have to wait until I hear back from people about some bitz
