Hey, I was thinking of building a Nidzilla list based on what models I already have, you'll see that I have no intentions of it being competitive and purely for fun but any suggestions as well as tactics would be much appreciated .
HQ:
Hive tyrant 165
Troops:
3 Warriors 90
10 Termagaunts 40
8 Genestealers (and a Broodlord) 172
8 Genestealers (and a Broodlord) 172
Heavy support:
Carnifex 120
Carnifex 120
Carnifex 120
All models are naked for a total points cost of 999

If it were me, I would trim 60 points out of the Stealers, (looking at You Broodlord ) and put Bioplasma on all three Carnifexen, that way you have at least some " AP" shooting available.

Is your tyrant just vanilla? He likes his upgrades!
I like running dual scyth fexes, but they need adrenal glands to help them get where they want to be.
How are you planning on using your warriors? Barbed strangler is a good option for them.

Hi, thanks for the comments I have a feeling that I should let a Broodlord go for some ranged firepower. My initial strategy was to stumble up the board with the carnifex and the hive tyrant covered by the termagaunts whilst the genestealers move along each flank and the warriors float to where needed. Do people still endorse the old tactic of 'it's big shoot it'? If not I think I may need to re think this entirely and maybe invest in the the swarm boxed set.
I would prefer to equip my warriors with bio weapons as I think they are less likely to be constantly shot at. Thanks for the suggestions

Yeah, you will find that trundling up the board with no shooting attacks is going to end poorly for you. Remember, the enemy can back up almost as quickly as you move towards them. Barbed strangler is a great ranged weapon for large blast damage and more importantly, pinning. The broodlord is nice for pinning as well with his Horror psychic power, but you lack any real punch that is fast enough to reach the enemy and effectively utilize the tactic. Genestealers are an investment that you have to tailor your army towards if you wish to use them effectively, which is tough when you are building more towards a MC spam list. I'd drop some of them and a broodlord, make a single bigger squad of stealers, and use the points you save towards a few upgrades like barbed stranglers and adrenal glands.

Your Tyrant needs a lvl up as do your Carnies. They will all just get shot up and die before they can get to the enemy.
I'd upgrade to Flyrant with 2x TL Dev and electro shock (maby evin add Fighter ace)
Carnies would definitly all get 2xTL Dev
With the fighter ace these upgrades will cost 195pts
I'd replace the 2 genestealers broods (344 pts)
with 15 more termagaints to use as mobile meat shields for the fexes, and to pay for these upgrades.
Edit: 100 more pts left for flavor due to bad math

Not bad advice. 100 points left can buy a Zoey, and a Veno, with 5 left over... Synapse , and Shrouding make for a major upgrade. (Plus additional powers of the Hive Mind!)

Good ideas guys. I think the genestealers do need to go (bye bye spawn of Cryptus ) Looks like the added firepower, survivability and psychic powers are more than a fair trade I shall adjust the list accordingly. I think I'm struggling to list build because I've never played a game of 40k other than the introductory game I had at my local GW thanks for all of the advice and help because what else is a forum for right

For sure zeal. You can get a lot of help on here. However, you have to remember that the game is primarily about enjoying yourself WHILE you're playing. If you want the spawn, play it. You'll lose some efficiency, but not so much that you'll automatically lose. So take the information you gather here and use it to build the list that best serves what you are trying to do, whether it is a fun list, or the most competitive one you can imagine.
