I'd probably take it in a 2000pt list, but I'd drop the Sanguinary Guard, The Honour Guard and both HQ choices. I'd also give the Death Company a Land Raider Crusader. I'd also put a Lascannon (or at least a missile launcher) in the tac squads. It looks like a decent list, there's objective holding potential (tac squads), a good amount of specialised anti-infantry units (Baal Predator+Tac Squad Bolters), anti-vehicle units (Stormraven+Lascannons) and anti-everything units (Terminators, Furioso + Death Company ((assuming you put some thunder hammers and Infernus pistols in there))). Depending on whether chaplains still allow re-rolls to hit and to wound, I'd take either Mephiston or Astorath as a HQ choice. I could go with Mephiston and a Chaplain (just to be safe), but that would mean that I would have to drop the Baal predator. I might upgrade the furioso to a furioso librarian if I had the points. However, it is not the best idea to keep Psyker units in reserve where they aren't doing anything. Does anyone have a good idea for transporting furioso librarians? Also, can anyone clarify what the new Codex's rules are for attaching chaplains to Death Company?

While I personally love Sanguinary Guard your idea seems solid. And if you're keeping the StormRaven the Furioso can just ride in that.

Chaplains no longer give rerolls, but Astorath gives rerolls to-wound for the DC.

Does it come with any special rule to buff it, because otherwise stuff like terminators, 5 man guard or the dread make no sense to take. Without any discount it is better to buy actualy useful units or make the too small units actualy good. Buffing the guard to be bigger , take a pod instead of the dread and some attack bikes with MM or grav bikers to actualy have some sort of anti tank.

Got to say as a BA player I'm not overly impressed. I only got the codex yesterday but it seems full of fluff. I'd have to agree they're more vanilla than ever.

Big killer for me is Assault squads now being FA choices. Sanguinory priests now not 1-3 per slot. I used to have 2x assualt squads of 10 marines with a priest in each. That used to scare the jebbus out of my opponent. I can sort of do it but will struggle in a 1k army.

Final kicker is Sanguinary priests can't be in terminator armour. I'd planned all along to have a kick ass termy squad with a priest in it to give it a real kick. Can't do that now (legally) anyway. I'll probably do the model anyway.

I suppose the up side is the points drop, but I'm not convinced!!!

Red Vanilla Marines me thinks!!!

Various Armies, from 2k to 4k.

Well, except for the terminator SP you can make pretty much every BA build that has ever existed with Unbound; which I realize is highly stigmatized on the internet, but in my experience it's been entirely without the doom and gloom predicted. That said I am surprised to hear that anyone was scared of your 2 assault squads with priests haha; I also ran those for years; they're ok, and they're still in the book (just FA). I also ran a 5 man Sanguinary Guard (with Priest) for years and they were good if used right, if not way too expensive - they're better now.

I'll probably keep one RAS in my list; but the cheaper DC are just too hard to resist now, as well as the cheaper SG that I've loved since they came along. Having played ZERO games at this point, my only real CONS would be the crowed HQ and Elite areas but soon I'll have some better experience to draw on; I was also used to running several SP's so that will be a big change, but the army wide Init buffs and Furious Charge really make that not such a big deal. I think we still have lots of flavor, as ALL of the same units are still there; a move from Troops to FA won't that change.

Yep that 20x wave of assault marines used to be pretty scary, just for good measure I used to put a librarian in a squad as well, I had plenty of fun with that.

Just reading my shinny new book a little more, any number of Death Coy can have power weapons etc. So if you have the points you can tool up a serious close combat squad that doesn't die too quickly and hits like hell.

I understand that theres always balance but every time I put a decent army together, plan it, play test it, buy the models, paint them, GW update the codex and make it unworkable
