If a fighter has stress, selects a green maneuver, and then smacks into another ship, does it lose stress?

Yes.

And all other things that happen after green maneuvers (R2-D2, for example) will happen. Overlapping another ship does not prevent you from executing a maneuver or change the color of that maneuver, it just changes your ending point.

Of course you still have to deal with the issues of bumping the ship....no actions, cant shoot at it, etc...

Note that stress also prevents the use of Advanced Sensors.

Aren't AS there so you can action, then red maneuver, then green, then action?

Or a variety of other things. One common use is to use an action before a manouvre that would otherwise collide with another ship or asteroid.

A common B-wing trick is to barrel roll clear of an obstruction, then move - which isn't possible if you're stressed.

But yes, if you reveal a green manouvre, you'll lose stress, even if you don't fully complete it.

The converse of this, is if you reveal a red manouvre, you become stressed, even if you don't fully complete it. This means that colliding with someone whilst trying to pull a koiogran turn or segnor's loop is BAD, because you are now (a) stressed and (b) still pointing the wrong way....

Unless you're Farlander and replace "suffer a stress token" with "gain a focus token". Then intentionally blocking red maneuvers becomes a viable strategy. For example, I use AS to get a target lock and then deliberately k-turn into another ship, gaining a "focus token" with a short straight maneuver. It's even more fun when you set up an option: if your target does X you deliberately block your k-turn to stay pointed the right way, if they do Y you barrel roll clear and perform the k-turn to reverse your arc.

Also, one other benefit of AS: you can use PTL to take two actions before you move, then execute a green maneuver to clear the stress you just took and leave you stress-free when you're picking your maneuver next turn.

WOW... why have I never thought of that?

It is part one of my favorite load outs for Corran Horn, PTL, R2-D2, and Advanced Sensors. 2 actions, do a green to clear the stress, gain a shield back.

Add an Engine Upgrade to that build for full movement options with PTL (both barrel roll and boost). Granted it's about half your squadron (49 points), but he is really nasty.

A shame you cant put AS on a TIE. Soontir Fel (get a free focus whenever he stresses) would be that much more awesome.

It's almost as if some effort was made to balance the game.

I've fielded a double E-wing squad before with:

Corran Horn
R2-D2
Engine Upgrade
Proton Torpedoes
Advanced Sensors
Push the Limit

Etahn Abaht
R2 unit
Engine Upgrade
Proton Torpedoes
Advanced Sensors
Push The Limit

It's surprisingly fun and is pretty darn good at improving your piloting skills, even if you don't win the game.
Rebel Captives and Tacticians gave me a hard time though.
