EC or DG. The rest feel like they have some sort directed military plan and objectives still vaguely worthy of a legion.

EC and DG are largely just crazy mindless thugs with no central leadership and just want the galaxy burn.

Other legions have:
Talos reborn
Ahriman
Abbadon
Marduk
Omegon

And to a lesser extent:
Kharn

I like all the Legions. I find them mostly justified in their rebellion, think the legions are really interesting in how they work.

It'd be nice if the gifts of chaos actually helped more in the rules or if they had more crazy technology.

Still better than the loyalists

Word Bearers are just awful.

I was expecting a lot more Death Guard hate....

I mean, what even is their culture? Toughness? Barbarus's culture is a gameplay statistic? That's just silly and lazy lore. And then Nurgle. All three other Chaos Gods are very enticing, promising very attractive things to their followers, but what does Nurgle give you? Really gross puss boils that make it hard to kill you? Ok.... I'll pass.

And even among those that have a central leadership, there are sill innumerable splinter factions that don't care about the main legion or their leaders who they once professed undying loyalty to.

Nurgle gives you true-blue happiness. None of the other Gods can promise you happiness, but Nurgle truly can.

Where ever the Emperor needs his eyes

Nurgle has an odd way of helping you be happy.

Afraid of Death? He can free you from it. Worried about disease? Boom, you are immune to it (usually at the cost of being a carrier).

Lets say maybe you don't want to be free from despair, you just want other people to feel it too. You bet your ass he can help with that.

His way of bringing about happiness is round about, sure you end up giving him something in return, but he helps you with something that will make you happy. He will surround you with others so that you are never lonely. And all you need to do is love him unconditionally and spread his love to others.

Perth

they WANT to be spreading the plagues and providing never ending life to the masses, coz how hard is it to kill something that is basically dead? thats what they WANT to be doing spreading papa nurgle pleasant love.

not sure who i hate. i know i love Death Guard, Emporers Children and the Thousand Son, all 3 for their decadent ways, (death, pleasure and knowledge) Khorn... i find a bit meh, but that may be gameplay affecting things.

if it came to anyone, crimson slaughter for just being no bodies that manage to get their own book, JUST BECAUSE!

Black Legion for me.
Generic baddies with an wholly incompetent leader.
I think literally any of the current living traitor Primarchs would do a better job of being the champion of Chaos Undivided than Abbadon.
I mean, if only he ever had a chance to put Horus back at the helm of everything......... OH WAIT HE TOTALLY DID!

You need to read The Talon of Horus. Your simplification of the situation (and misspelling of our leaders name) is painful to us who are loyal to Abaddon. Why would he put a failure like Horus back at the helm? He failed. Abaddon is the chosen one and while Horus was tricked into leading the forces of Chaos against The Emperor, Abaddon goes into this fight with his eyes wide open.

Let the galaxy burn! (and it will)

Wow, this is turning out a lot different than I had thought. A lot of Word Bearer hate. A suprising amount towards my own Night Lords, and not nearly enough towards Crimson Slaughter. Interesting how few have picked Alpha Legion. But, of course, that is exactly how they planned it.

"Because the Wolves kill cleanly, and we do not. They also kill quickly, and we have never done that, either. They fight, they win, and they stalk back to their ships with their tails held high. If they were ever ordered to destroy another Legion, they would do it by hurling warrior against warrior, seeking to grind their enemies down with the admirable delusions of the 'noble savage'. If we were ever ordered to assault another Legion, we would virus bomb their recruitment worlds; slaughter their serfs and slaves; poison their gene-seed repositories and spend the next dozen decades watching them die slow, humiliating deaths. Night after night, raid after raid, we'd overwhelm stragglers from their fleets and bleach their skulls to hang from our armour, until none remained. But that isn't the quick execution the Emperor needs, is it? The Wolves go for the throat. We go for the eyes. Then the tongue. Then the hands. Then the feet. Then we skin the crippled remains, and offer it up as an example to any still bearing witness. The Wolves were warriors before they became soldiers. We were murderers first, last, and always!" —Jago Sevatarion

Silly Nightlord, the Alpha Legion was wiped out long ago.
Why would anyone hate them?

I'll report to him with this nice shiny sword to stick in his eye!
