I've tried adding most of the majors Chapters, but I'm sorry if I've missed some of them out! The Grey Knights have also been omitted on purpose.

I've allowed multiple answers!

Off of this list (and naturally excluding my homebrew chapter), I'd vote for the Cacharodons (Space Sharks, heck yeah!) and/or the Exorcists.

Black Dragons and Minotaurs, how can you not love an army of Wolverines with scales or a Chapter made up of Greek heroes in SPEESS?

Also, Legion of the Damned aren't a Chapter. They're a group of undead ghosts.

Crimson Fists are my first choice, but Carchadons are getting up there the more I find out about em. I'm actually going to have to sit and read a book, but considering how much I like the unabashed brutality of pre-heresy World Eaters, I think they'll steal my vote by the end of it.

Carcharodons- I like the 'thuggish rapist sociopath' aspect of the heraldic traditions that SM are based on being represented in a chapter.
Black Dragons- I play Salamanders primarily, and I like them.
Mantis Warriors- For all the crap he gets, Goto's Mantis Warriors novella was pretty dynamite.

But in terms of official GW stuff its gotta' be the Celectial Lions, they are badarse motherf ers.

Edit

Astral Knights are in fact the most badarse motherf ers in the galaxy, but Celestial Lions are still cool.

And refuse to love the Spinosaurus because it is a hamfisted attempt at taking what you loved, making it TREX +++ and trying to sell you it.

Purple Stars, Mortificators, Doom Eagles, Harbingers. I think I actually prefer a lot of the non first founding Chapters because we have very little in the way of fluff for them and what we do only gives us a mere glimpse into what they are actually like, gives you room to build on it more.

Aaah, crap, I even love them and I forgot them :( Celestial Lions are awesome and have a significant amount of fluff!

Why is Legion of the Damned up there? The Legion of the Damned isn't a Chapter, it's a Legion. Also, it isn't even Space Marines, it's basically dead Space Marines that the Emprah decided to make into his daemons.

There are a few chapters out there with Legion in their names, Doom Legion, Viper Legion, Red Legion, and if the rumours are true the Legion of the Damned is a Chapter made from the specters of the Fire Hawks.

I said Legion of the Damned, since they are pretty cool, and always appear when they are needed . . . (Like a good neighbor, Legion of the Damned is there!) . . .
Although Space Sharks/ Carchadons are pretty cool as well. I'm sure that most of these are pretty cool, but there are just so many you can never know about each chapter in detail.

I like the Dark Hunters. No frills, no battle cry, they just do their jobs. They excel at night missions, which I like. Mainly I just like their workman like manner. These are the guys who when they play sports would score and then just walk back to their side of the field because scroring is their job. Since most Space Marine chapters seem to take themselves way to seriously, I like this attitude.

Huh? Unless there was an overhaul and retcon of fluff, the Legion of the Damned are what is left of the Firehawks after a terrific Warp related incident which almost wiped out the chapter and doomed the remnants to a slow and miserable death.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

Okay, peeked at the supplement, it's only speculation that they're ghosts given new form from the emperor's will or whatnot and it's merely speculation that they're remnants of a chapter that was caught in the Warp (names the Firehawks). So I guess we're all half right then.

Hey, the Relictors aren't on this list! I object! Radical Space Marine loyalists who use daemon weapons to fight for the Imperium, despite being excommunicated, are CLEARLY the best.

Word, brother!

Although I believe we're currently retconned back from 'excommunicated' to 'vaguely dodgy', according to the SM codex.

Angels of Wrath, from Citadel Journal 22. They are a Dark Angels successor chapter. I am doing an Unbound list to keep it as close as I can to the source material; which ironically requires me to use Space Wolf Scouts.

Working on a scout squad right now actually.
