This was the pinnacle of human scientific and cultural achievement that occurred between C.M15-M26. While humanity had been an interstellar civilisation long before this age, they were never truly unified. I have tried to make a timeline and have also made a list of Dark Age technologies. Feel free to add to both.

Early M15- Humanity discovers the Warp, a parallel dimension of purely psychic energy through which they can travel great distances over a short period of time. Previously, humanity had to rely on sleeper ships that would take years to reach their destination. Humanity's colonies are united under a federation with Earth as its capital.

Late M15- Daemons become an issue when travelling in the warp, the Gellar field is invented. This creates a bubble of reals pace around the ship and keeps out daemons.

M18- Psykers are first verified to exist in the form of Navigators. It is found that Navigators are much better at seeing through the currents of the warp than computers.

M20- Humanity ends fighting with other sentient races in the Galaxy. Peace treaties and trade agreements are made with the Eldar and other Xenos

Late M24- The "Men Of Iron", artificially intelligent robotic labourers and soldiers become self aware and rebel agains the humans in a long, genocidal campaign

Early M25- Humanity prevails in the war against the machines. Creating artificial intelligence becomes a crime and cultural taboo.

Late M25- More Psykers start to pop up than ever, this draws daemon's attention toward humans. Possessed Psykers begin to wreak havoc on human worlds. More civilised world's train Psykers to use their powers effectively while resisting the touch of the warp, less civilised world brutally murder Psykers in with hunts.

Early M26- The decadence of the Eldar causes warp storms as a new chaos God forms. The warp becomes impossible to navigate, hive worlds such as Terra are unable to receive food and other resources from more resource rich worlds

Late M26- Human civilisation crumbles, brutal warlords take power on many worlds and rip their planets apart through war. Others are left defenceless against Xenos and Daemon threats. Some are able to survive.

M29- Slaanesh is born, the warp storms fade and on Terra, a warlord calling himself "The Emperor Of Mankind" takes control of the planet and sets out on the great crusade to unite humanity once again.

Dark Age Technologies:
All Imperial Technology
The Slaughtersong- An ancient artificially intelligent battleship that includes a mind-link system and an array of powerful weaponry
Archaeotech Weapons- Weapons that draw power from a planet's projectile to fire sub-atomic munitions
Phase Iron- A metal that causes agonising pain to Psykers when they try to use their abilities
Bloodtide- Microscopic robots that could enter an enemy's body and tear it apart from the inside
Men Of Iron- Artificially intelligent robots that were used as warriors and labourers during the dark age. It is said that they were created by the "Men Of Stone"
Standard Template Construct- An artificially computer given to colonists that could produce anything they needed. The Mechanicis would do anything to find one.

Schrott

I thought Archaeotech was a catch-all term for ancient technology.

Like a fancy pistol with homing bullets wielded by a inquisitor that came from the Dark Age of Technology or possibly before it would have the label "Archaeotech" attached to it due to its age.

Regiment: 91st Schrott Experimental Regiment
Regiment Planet: Schrott
Specialization: Salvaged, Heavily Modified, and/or Experimental Mechanized Units.
"SIR! Are you sure this will work!?"
"I HAVE NO IDEA, PULL THE TRIGGER!!!" 91st comms chatter.

Yeah, 'Archaeotech' just means 'Tech we found as-is instead of making'. It might be that one piece of archaeotech in one story drew power from a planet's projectile (whatever that means), but that's not what archaeotech does.

A Standard Template Construct is a device that makes things. The Mechanicum have a few Standard Tempate Construct machines... what they don't have is a full library of the wafers that hold the patterns that tell the STC how to make the things.

They have the Constructs, just not the Standard Templates.

Several pieces of Imperial technology are, in fact, not rooted in the Dark Age, including Bolters, Power Armour, and Terminator Armour. These were all developed during the War of Reunification and Great Crusade eras.

Where are you pulling your timeline data from, anyway?

Navigators are not psykers, they're a genetic mutation specifically bred for their ability. They weren't "discovered", they were built.

the navigator gene was discovered then built upon.

Achoelogical Technology, that's what it is, think stargate, we find a giant worm hole making machine but don't know how it works, just that we can make it work.

I don't know about that, everything I have read suggests that the navigator gene was developed, and not a natural occurance.

It began as a strain of the Psyker mutation's earliest forms, then it was selectively bred so that we could have many Navigators for Warp Travel.

Also, instead of using a label of Dark Age tech, relabel it archaeotech, as archaeotech IS DAoT tech. Also, there are all kinds of archaeotech weapons, so you can't just label them all under the same category. From Titans to chainswords, archaeotech is just tech that we found. Also, not all Imperial tech is DAoT tech, much of it - but not most- was invented or adapted from alien tech AFTER the DAoT.

Also, I highly doubt that daemons only became a problem several centuries AFTER humans began Warp travel. Daemons are all throughout the Warp (spread practically homogeneously)
and would have become a problem the moment we began Warp travel. Also, Gellar fields would have been necessary from the very beginning of Warp travel, not just because of Daemons, but also because the Warp is basicallly just one big fethed-up star - a massive dimension of pure energy that would rip ships apart if they did not have some kind of energy field to protect them. This is probably a huge part of why the Eldar used the Webway, because it is stable and you don't have to battle through insane amounts of highly lethal energies.

There was a story in the SM omnibus where a single kroot killed 2-3 marines then ate their gene seed and became a Kroot-startes.

We must all join the Kroot-startes...

In the time of a relatively-calm Warp, the sentiences that live within it are not all soul-eating monstrosities.
