In ur base, killin ur d00dz

I think it would depend on the Hive fleet and what they'd consumed recently. For me, I always imagined Tyranids having a phosphorescent kind of blood like the Predator.

I'm going to be painting it up to match the nid player i go against scheme which is leviathan if that makes a difference? But I'll have to have a go on painting up the blodd see if it looks good! :p

the 7th edition 'nid codex in describing a fight between the 'nids and deamons notes that "no real blood flowed for Khrone, just a worthless alien ichor" I'd go with a pale brownish yellow.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

It probably varies depending on the Hive Fleet or even individual basis depending on how the Hive Mind has adapted certain creatures.
i'd go with whatever colour contrasts with the colour of dead bug.

id say it varies even more than that, they most likely adapt it to match the prevailing atmosphere there fighting in, so more oxidised if in such an atmosphere or blue or green or whatever, short answer, any colour you like

On page 7 of the current 'Nid codex, there's a picture of an eldar cutting off a tyranid's arm. The blood in that picture is orange.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

I think they've shown green in the case of the damaged carnifex head.

Whatever colour contrasts really nicely with the rest of the colour scheme

Seems to be the deciding factor with most of the instances I've seen.

I agree completely with Ynneadwraith. Contrast with your carapace colour. Warm vs cool colours work best. (warm=red/orange/yellow; cool=green/blue)

Also, it helps to use the Rule of Tincture (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_tincture)
don't paint colours on colours or metals on metals. Always mix colours and metals.

In this example, metals do not mean metallics. It refers to colours (red, blue, green, black, purple) and metals (white, yellow).

Painting red on green can be hard to differentiate from a distance. Painting yellow on red can be very easy to see.

A lot of the GW color schemes follow this rule, as do many corporate logos and country flags.

Cheers and good luck!

If you work out why human blood is red (because of the interaction between iron and oxygen), you can work that around the minerals and content the Tyranids are made of.
If the planet they last consumed was mostly (somehow) populated with silicon-based life, try blue or something.

Nids are constantly remade on a genetic level to better suit whatever environment they end up in.

Different air mixture? Likely a different color blood. Different pigments in the skin shell? Maybe a different color blood.

Different organisms with organs designed to produce entirely different chemical reactions? (Acid Blood/Regeneration/Pyrovores Volatile) Probably a different color blood.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Really, any colour works that contrasts with the nid parts, the base, and your own mini.

Maybe ask your friend what colour he thinks his nids' blood is.

...I wonder if mixing nurgle's rot and blood for the blood god technical paints would look good?

I am new to the 40k universe but my imagination thinks that quite bright, or pale but almost glowing colours would look awesome.

However as awesome as the above colours would look, I think that realistically, in my opinion, it would be a dark brackish/blackish/greenish swamp colour. That is what colour comes to my mind when the word 'ichor' is used.

however I have no idea what the fluff says.

Neat! Didn't know about that, but it sounds like I'll be able to make some pretty cool and fluffy looking colour schemes out of this
