So making use of the relatively cheap prices on the new deathstorm. I decided to build up a list I had kind of pointed up prior.

2x Flyrants T/L Devourers
2x Venomthropes
4x3 Warriors with barbed
3x2 Dakkafexes
1850

Pretty straightforward and was able to build this army for $400. To go to 2k its add in another venomthrope and another warrior brood.

Doesn't't look bad, it has no screen ( style issue) and it has no Shroud... Grounding is pretty much required to be competitive, so you should look at adding some.

You could also look at trading two Warrior Brood down for Hormagaunts, to screen the Big Bugs.

Yeah I had debated maybe using the gargoyle/flyrant formation to go to 2k and have a big screen that started in front. Not sure what you mean by no shroud?

Venothrope/Malanthrope, a screen gives a cover save, Shrouding improves it by 2 You also really want to start in a Shroud, so that you can survive an "Alpha strike".

So you always want at least one, and often two sources of Shrouding.
Some tourney players go so far as to include a Bastion for the Shrouding source, the (in)famous " veno in a box".

It keeps the source safe, and blocks line of sight.

I know what shroud is. I meant what do you mean by I have none in my army. Do you not play with terrain in your games? Getting cover saves in 7th is pretty easy. I also have 2 venomthropes in my list and it goes to 3 for 2k. I could see the benefit of an av14 box to hold a venom in.
