If the queen mum still appears on your currency, the day after christmas is a national holiday as well (usually).

In Canada it became a way to extend the shopping terror. think black friday after christmas, so most stores can liquidate stock before inventory in the new year.

Boxing Day is pretty much a Commonwealth thing only.

I didn't realise you didn't have Boxing Day in the US haha. It's just a bank holiday on the 26th December.
