This game makes me want to gush. I waited until after Christmas because I figured I'd get it with all the hinting I was giving to my wife and children. I've played for a few hours already and this is just an extremely enjoyable puzzle platformer with very nice visuals. If you played the mini games of it in super Mario 3d world then you get the basic idea behind the game, but it has a lot more to it as well as boss battles and unlockables.

I wouldn't buy this game with the expectation of it being a brain twister that you need to hunker down on, it's mostly just to enjoy IMO. Got a few minutes? Play a stage or two and leave happy, on up to killing a few hours as well. The stages are well thought out with just enough of a head scratcher to keep you wanting more. And somehow Captain Toad leaves you feeling like he is a total bad ass, like he should of been in the spot light years ago.

I've still plenty of things to do in this game, you can unlock Toadette and play as her and even play some of the actual 3d worlds stages as the Captain if you have save files from that game. Just wanted to take a minute or three and share my thoughts in this cool little game with you lot. Apparently it will even support amiibo soon as well. So I'm hoping that means a Captain Toad amiibo..... I'd buy one in a heart beat.

I got it for my wife and have played it with her and I would say that I agree with this assessment.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Haven't played it, but I'll be honest: Toad as the main character really turns me off. I find him to be boring and lackluster. Even in New Super Mario Bros., I always wanted to be Mario or Luigi and hated Toad.

This isn't just Super Mario 3D with Toad instead of Mario. It is a fun and different game then the others. I honestly don't think Mario would work as well in it.

Agreed, you can't really compare Mario titles with this game outside the fact that they are from the same mythos. This is an actual puzzle platformer and sticks to that. Mario games in general are just platformers and that's it. I'd say at the very least rent it, you won't be sorry unless you absolutely hate the mini games in 3d world. Then probably not so much.
