Hi All,

I'm toying with putting together a Cypher conversion (mostly kitbashing, with some GS and reposing) and was hoping someone on dakka could help me out-I can't find any shots of the GW Cypher model side-on, so I've got no idea how ornate the shoulder armour "should" be. I'm not intending to duplicate the existing model (I like creating my own look), but I was hoping to see what the model looks like side-on so I can decide if, in my interpretation of Cypher, I want to go more ornate, less ornate, or maintain the same kind of look.

I've got the Sternguard squad, command squad and the Commander sprues with tonnes of bits sitting on my desk as I'm still constructing models, so lots of fancy bitz to go around and make this work

Thanks

Not sure on his shoulders, but the Dark Angels veterans sprue might have a good robed body for him, although they are mostly static posed, theres a walking one I think.

You can find those single sword pads in the DA vets box too ~(might be upside down?)

I'd go all out for him. People spend most of their time aiming their guns at / looking at special characters, so might as well make him extra special

I've got no problems with trying to GS some robes-I did think about the DA vets sprue, but I don't know if I want to have all the other bits left over, plus it strikes me as being rather difficult to repose the DA bodies given the way they are built.

Plus, gf is going away early next week for 4 days, so was planning on having a long modelling session and I can't get the DA vet sprue in time for that

Oh, he'll be special-I completely agree with this Rough plan at the moment is to infiltrate him in with some heavy hitters and then deepstrike in my warlord with some sternguard, so he's going to draw lots of attention Hence the custom pose, because I feel like the existing model pose is a bit tame and static. Not as static as some other poses, but it could be better.

If anyone has seen the movie Equilibrium, with Christian Bale-Cypher will be a monk of the tetragrammatron. It's going to be awesome.

Oh god yes...a tetragrammatron Cypher would be epic. The Bloodangels Sanguinor model would be an epic pose for that model but the conversion would be insane.

Its been a while since I watched that film... so just checked the trailer out on youtube. Those pistol fight scenes are exactly how Cypher should be... the fluff has him astoundingly proficient with them. and never actually draws his sword. The sword is some wargear he carries, but cannot use in combat.

The guns have to be special

'It is difficult to get anything other than a brief glimpse at Cypher’s pistols for they are drawn, fired, and reholstered with a blinding speed. As with all things about
Cypher, his weapons too have brought about much speculation. They are clearly of ancient
design possibly pre-dating the Imperium itself.'

Being a Dark Angels fan, the Cypher story is one of my favs.

Well, GF has left to go hiking for a few days as of 10 minutes ago, so once I've woken up properly the planning for this conversion begins!

I agree, pistols are important. At the moment I've got two of the pistols from the SW sprue (from which I will remove anything wolfy) which have some nice detail to distinguish them from regular SM pistols; that plus a unique paintjob should do the trick nicely I think.
