Its been a while since I have been into wh/wh40k but a friend of mine managed to fan the flames which I thought have long been gone..
But here I am, last time I was "in it" I was in my early teens.
This time just slabbing some paint on which ever way just wont do... Won't do at all.

I used to play tyranids(I say "play" coz I never won a battle...) and High Elves.

However I do not like the new/current tyranid models. the last edition hive tyrant was a boss model :(
But anyway, I wanted to try something different and as my friends Eldar always used to whip my ass I have decided to start again with these guys.

Before I knew it i have ordered all the paints and modeling materials I would need...
All I am waiting for now is some models to come through the post... :(

Cant wait for that first box of plastic goodness to arrive through the post

Im not familiar with the lingo.. so what exactly does "dakka" mean ? :S

EDIT: Having read around it seems that Eldar seem to be overpowered atm and a bit cheesy :(
I already got a box of guardians, DA's and banshees on the way tho.. :/

I like playing the underdog which vexes me a little bit.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Hey! Welcome to Dakka Dakka!!

Dakka Dakka is the chatter of bolters, or Ork 'eavy shoota's I imagine.

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of the women.

Welcome to dakka!

Yes dakka is another term for "shootiness" like "We need moar DAKKA!!!!"

The main issue with Eldar is fielding many "Wave Serpents" since price to capability they are hard to beat.
The other "unfortunate" thing is they are a primary troop transport so it is difficult to not need a few of them.

Do not let it worry you about not being an underdog, you can hope the next codex release happens and you suffer from "over-adjustment" and they be dogs again.

Glad you got all you need, from my own observations and behavior any number of us are more than willing to offer advice asked for or not!

Good luck and have fun!

There is no danger of that. I'm not into power plays and cheese builds. Win or loose its guna be fun

My first box of guardians came through the post

Me so happy.. Going for Black/yellow scheme but something missing. Not sure if I should throw in white or blue :(

There are people who like to create tough lists, it is always good to exercise your inner demons and make the meanest list you can, just because.
As has been discussed on this board's forums one man's cheese list is another man's "Making the best list I can." with no intent on being a WAAC player.
I find with slight tweaks, a suitably characterful army does not have to equal one that loses often, that gets old quickly.

The direct complimentary colour for yellow is purple.
You could try purple edging on top of the black or if that is too "eye gouging" try blue edging on the black.
Black and white are great contrasts but they compete with your yellow... I play Black Templar so with only black and white as the main colours it works.
If you use purple (which is blue combined with red) I would then use red gems to tie it together (or maybe red weapons?).
Your scheme anyway has much room for being a variant of Uthwe or Iyanden.
Always exciting times when starting a new army, makes me a bit nervous committing to a paint scheme for potentially some 100+ models.

@ Talivzar Thanks for the input.
I'm kind of dead set for the scheme(Steelers fan, black and yellow.. don't judge) but I'm not sure how well other colors will work. I hate purple.. Maybe red for the gems and "details"...?

I will post some initial trial runs when I get painting
