So I got a ton of infinity painted up and on clear bases. Aftertime though a bit of paint is coming off here and there and I want to seal it so it lasts. Does anyone know of a non gloss sealer that is in a paint pot or bottle? I worry that if I spray them it will fog the clear bases

Vallejo and Liquitex make matte vanishes you can brush on. That said vanishes dry funny and can leave brush strokes if you're not careful.

Yeah, for sure. I don't like brush-on varnish at all, to be honest. Varnish tends to thick anyways, and when you brush it on, even with a flat brush, there's a tendency for it to go on unevenly. When light hits the varnish, it's quite visible.

If rattlecan varnish is not an option (eg Testors Dullcote), I suggest buying a cheap airbrush (even a cheap airbrush + mini compressor kit for less than $50), and using Vallejo matte varnish. Do wear a mask though; unlike a lot of water-based acrylic paints, varnish and primer are both relatively toxic to inhale.

It could be an option I just don't have experience with spraying matt dullcoat on a clear base. Don't want it to fog it all up.

Mask the base and use a rattle can varnish (like Testors Dullcote) and you should be fine.

i use the Vallejo brush-on matte varnish on all my minis, and i have never had it go on looking uneven, or with brush strokes showing...
living in the tropics, i have, however, had spray varnish ruin a few paintjobs thanks to the summer humidity...
i brush it on neat, with a moist brush...
thinning with water will cause frosting...

like Scooty said, you can always mask the base (blue painter's tape is your friend), and spray...
i kinda doubt that it is a big worry, though...
if the varnish is not going to frost on the paintjob, it shouldn't frost the clear base either...

cheers

I'd suggest masking the clear base and using Testors Dullcote. Everyone and their mother has a favorite varnish (largely aerosol), and Dullcote is mine. It's flat, it's strong, and it's consistent.

That said, if you insist on using a brush-on, I'd recommend Vallejo over Liquitex. Liquitex is easier to come by, being available at nearly any old arts and crafts store, but it leaves a more satin than dead flat finish. It's also the only varnish I've ever had frost up on me, which left an understandably sour taste in my mouth. Even without that bad experience, though, the look when applied sucessfully isn't to my liking.

Army Painters matte coat is good in my book. Reasonably priced as well at my FLGS.
Although my FLHS has a complete Vallejo line. Including their Matte and Gloss coats.. Haven't tried those so no opinion on them.

I'm a belt and suspenders kinda guy. I hit it with gloss coat, let it dry then go over that with matte.
