Is the Tau Search & Destroy Cadre - or any other formation like it - usable in standard 40k?

(Not looking for Firebase - I don't like the Tide, and like a lot more FA choices than Elites)

The formations in Damocles are for Apocalypse. Tau don't have any other ones besides the Firebase Support Cadre that are made for 40k.

I haven't looked at those Formations in a while. I remember the Riptide one was pretty good, but aside from that the rest were pretty much garbage. I remember the Skyray formation letting Skyrays fire any number of missiles a turn, despite there being no actual limitation in the rules for number of missiles they could fire.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

Does it bother anyone else that gak like that routinely gets past their editors?

Perhaps not technically a Marine Chapter anymore, but the Flame Falcons would be pretty creepy to fight.

"Right. Well, did you at least use the burnas?"

"We tried, but the gits was already on fire."

It used to. Missile Lock is a USR in 6th and 7th that only one model has ever had, and has been FAQ'd off the model in both editions. It had no affect in 6th and when it would work in 7th they kept the FAQ to remove the rule from the model.

Thats too bad. I was looking into what I'd like to expand to, and FA was getting really crowded. Saw the formation listed while looking at Tetras, after I had decided Ion Pathfinders in a Devilfish + Remora drones, and it looked perfect.

Tau FA looks like a blast. But I had forgotten Stealth Suits were Elites, so Remora/ PF fish/ Piranha all fit. Wish i could do more.
