Those do look very nice Halvare, and if I ever get some stealth suits I may make them the red imperial guard like you have on your crisis suits.

I definitely had a hard as hell time working with the games workshop white paint. I don't have problems with the other colors in the games workshop line, but the white always comes out chunky and chalky for me. Did you use a different company's paint or can I ask if you have any tips for getting a smoother job with the white?

I did more of the lines like that on my crisis suits and broadsides, and they definitely look great but I'm still hesitant to do that much detail on my generic stormtroopers because it makes them look less like the way I picture them from the movies. It's weird, but even the amount of black I already have showing under the armor plates looks excessive to me compared to the stormtrooper armor in the above pics lol.

The fire warriors you see in mine has around 6 different colours, which is hard to see in the pics.

The black under suit is 2-3 colours, shoulder pad has another colour and the little sensor on the front of the helm as 2..

Best way to paint them is undercoat white, then spray them white (or a thin down white). Then very carefully ink the black lines being care not to run it everywhere. Then touch up the white.

Which white is everyone having a problem with? The Layer or the Base? I just bought some of the Base for some Epic-scale knights, hopefully I won't have trouble as only half of them will be white, quartered with blue.

I find that priming in white or grey is the best as a basis for a white paintjob. Only a crazy person would do black, ugh.

If I could make a recommendation. Really more a request. Maybe make the Drones look like some Probe Droids. Make them black and add a few small legs hanging down.

That is a brilliant idea to make a probe droid. Maybe I could make each of the types of drones (marker, gun, shield, missile, sniper, etc) a different type of droid from star wars. Those seem like they'd be a good fit for marker drones.

I finally added some new pics to the first post. Took far longer than I intended to get another game in with my imperial army, but the good news is I got to add the new Palpatine because of the delay (and boy were his force/ethereal powers on full display). This was a pretty small game so you won't see the full force out on the battlefield as I'd hoped, but maybe soon I'll get another chance to deploy everything.

Thanks, I've been having a lot of fun with this project! I've got some more ideas to make a small Necron alliance for General Grievous and his Magna Guard out of some warscythe lychguard. Still hoping to knock out some probe droids soon too.

Ok, i pity you for painting that much white lol.

White is the bane of my existence for colors. My tau are purple/dark green but have white contrasting parts (something like 5-10% of the model is white if that much). The white parts give me way more issues than the entire model lol.

Great job though.

One thing that works for me with white is to start with grey, and then do a heavy white drybrushing.

Also, when you lose a game, play this sound effect.

I did buy a new kit of fire warriors to try again with the core stormtroopers and I'm going to experiment with a different company's white paint and with using grey first then painting white over it to see which goes better.

I also got all the pieces I need for an AT-ST, General Grievous, Magna-Guard, Battle Droids, and Droid Decar. Probably won't get that project finished till summer though.

Added another picture to the first post of my new General Grievous and small unit of Battle Droids. Magna Guard and AT-ST coming up next.

Thanks, I got the heads off of star wars legos. There is a kit that comes with a lot of droids so a lot of people offload them on ebay. The gun is the blaster that comes with the necron warriors, I just didn't put in the green rod piece or the end cap and then I cut a few of the hoses and such off.

I was pretty happy with the droids as well and this side of the army has been much easier to paint than the stormtrooper side so I went ahead and ordered what I need to expand it substantially.

I'm adding the pic for the magna guard and an AT-ST as well. I'm not super loving the AT-ST and I think I could have done a better job with it so I will probably get a second one of those and play with the legs and the armor plating to smooth it out more.

The first thing I thought of when I first saw a Necron Ghost Ark model was those droid racks from The Phantom Menace.

Thanks, I've been having a far easier time converting and painting the droid army than I did with the stormtrooper one. Still experimenting with different techniques trying to get one I like to redo the Tau pieces since they got new kits anyway.
