That Neutron laser looks cool.
I was expecting some weird necron thing, with over sized crystals or a odd muzzle shape, but it's quite sensible.

What's with muzzle on the icarus autocannons? They look odd.

He's talking about this part here. If you choose not to take it and instead take the headlights (which look better on it imho), you get a plastic servo arm for converting techpriests/techmarines etc.

Honestly the coolest part IMHO is in the fluff portion and there is an epic pic of Mars showing things like the ring of iron which is even more awesome than I had imagined it.

Just got my hands on a copy. Not reading it till later but it's rather nice and left with the inevitable feeling that I'm gonna have to buy a knight or two to round out what will be a rather effective force.

Knights are Something I've resisted until now but I can see FW taking more of my money than I anticipated at Salute.

Hell, even that Crabtank is growing on me!

easy techmarine on bike conversion

also value of stubber is protection against Weapon Destroyed? It can also take a second stubber for only 5 points.

thank you both for the servo arm idea !

anyone ever fielded a lone and cheap techmarine on bike ? could he be useful without an escort as a repair unit behind my 2 LRC ?

Aesthetically and layout-wise I LOVE this codex. It's got the feeling of the 5e softbacks with a fluff section, then a fluff section for each unit, then the obligatory pictures section, then the army list. And the artwork in it is superb. And to top it all off, it was only $33. GW really outdid themselves with this codex.

Definitely enjoying the fluff that's written in the Codex. It gives the sense that the army is like a hacking code. When you start hacking, you end up testing your opponent's defenses and slowly learn what they are and what they're made up of, and then when you figure it all out, you push forth with just the right type of code to bust through. That's the sense I get anyway. Also describes the Adeptus Mechanicus as it's own Empire within the Imperium, which is really cool.

The codex is truly gorgeous and the artists deserve a bonus for depicting the units so vividly.

Also, just stuck together my Sydonian Dragoon, aside from a single hose that runs from the servitor leg to the strider leg, it all goes together without a hitch. Glorious. Amazing kit design as always, GG on that one GW. My only complaint, aside from the fidgety hoses between the legs, is where do I put my holstered phosphor serpenta? We got a nice holstered version with the kit, but no real place to put it.

Intersting that Legio Cybenetica is nice and prominent as one fo the xis big parts of the AM war machine.

be nice if the FW and GW stuff was able to be used together - but thats likely to much to hope.

The pages on Mars and the pics in general are pretty awesome

the only annoying thing is:

No Tech Priest HQ - given that these are depicted in the actual images and they have the models already done - pretty darn stupid - lets not make more money........

Well, there is the rumour of another codex coming, which may very well be more Techpriest and servitor themed.

I have a feeling the Tech Priest will be in the Cult Mechanicus book, I'm a little annoyed by the lack of it also.

The Legio Cybernetica is probably gone by 40k amalgamated into something else.... though I think I remember them in Epic at some point.

Remember the Mechanicum is different too the Adeptus Mechanicus

I like the look of the white walker. Still trying to think of how I wanna do mine, I might go with a dirty desert yellow with rusted out metal kinda theme now. Still haven't gotten anything yet though, I wanna get ahold of the codex first and still on the fence for what I want to get. I'd like to mix in some FW stuff, I like their models especially the tentacly robot guys, thinking I could use them as my count-as ruststalkers... though I do like the ruststalkers as is too ...

We'll find out soon enough eh.

The walker is actually growing on me quite a bit, very tempting to get one...but I think I'll hold off until we see if this extra Cult Mechanicus 'dex is really a thing; no point thinking about the army I want to build until I know what all the options are going to be.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

I agree, I like the walker when it has the full footpads down, when there are only headlights in the front, and when it has an integrated turret weapon (as opposed to the big, blocky missile launcher). I'm debating picking up a small force for combat patrols, so I don't think I'll have too much use for it, but I still may get one if my opinion continues to improve. I do like tanks!

yeah that's kinda what I'm figuring they'll do. rather then do a single admech 'dex they'll do several and chunk em up. makes em more money and they can release in smaller drips and drabs
