I think its funny how GW and FW started from the same concept and ended up in such different places. I don't think the robots bad... it just doesn't fit the aesthetic of the army as well as say the FW one. Its stands out like a Marine Dreadnought would in an IG army. Its surfaces and lines are so much smoother and streamlined. When you look at all the other models in this range, there are wires and cables, there are rivets more exposed mechanical components.

Yeah, it's definitely crying out for some guitar string cables, added rivets, maybe some metal damage patches...but not too much, lest it start being orky.

Maybe I'm just silly, but I think GW's gone too far out of their way to avoid having Techpriests and normal servitors in the army of a faction largely defined by those two things.

They're coming in wave 3, which will have yet another codex

Yeah, the GW version on the poster feels kind of like someone described the Thanatar to the sculptor over the phone and said 'make that'.

The GW version is a lot closer to the original model/art, while FW tends to take the original as inspiration, then redesign it to look more functional (generally for the best- FW titans look so much better than the Epic/Armorcast titans they are inspired by)

Well when ever GW gets around to a unified AdMech codex it'll be interesting to see how the different units get shifted around on the FoC. I'm curious if we'll ever get any other fast attack choices.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Yeah, dat robot, no ta. They're not quite as bad as Centurions, but they're not far off. The combination of the awful headpiece, the overly smooth look, and the real lack of visual cohesion with the rest of the army means they compare really unfavourably to FW's Castellax IMO. I was hoping we'd see an updated version of the Conqueror, Cataphract, or Colossus, rather than just a less-awesome take on the Castellan than we already have. It's also really pathetic that the only difference between the two variants appears to be whether you stick fingers or wee gun-domes to the end of the giant ham-hands.

The Electro-priests really need better pics to make a judgement, but so far they look pretty cool, if a little on the large side(those are the new 32mm bases, aye?). I was hoping to use their torsos and arms with the Skitarii legs to make the regular old servitors that GW apparently don't want to give us, but that doesn't look like it'd work, sadly.

The Kataphrons - fair play here, they're not what I expected or what I wanted out of tracked infantry...but they do look pretty fantastic from what I can see.

The characters look great, auto-buy.

Assuming this is everything we'll be getting for the foreseeable, and the marketing poster suggests that's the case; a fantastic release from GW, notwithstanding the slightly greedy two-book dealie. Almost none of it was what I pictured in my head, but almost all of it looks fantastic and does fit with the AdMech aesthetic.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

Man, GW have been hitting it out of the park lately in terms of models. I'm really impressed. Pity I've committed myself to buying nothing new until I get a bunch of stuff painted.

How big a base do people think the tracked unit is mounted on? 50mm? 60mm? As I'm thinking of using the Zinge track units to make my own but they need to be approx the same size.

That's the much larger Thanatar Seige Automata model.

The Castallex Battle Automata wold be more comparable in size.

Though in games terms the comparison might be applicable depending on FoC slot for the AdMech robots.

Anyhoo, I like 'em. Scruffy them up a bit, loose the imperial eagle from the chest, upgrade the shoulder weapon and it could be a keeper.

Any guesses on how these are going to be priced? I need to get an idea of how much im going to need to save up. So much for focusing on just Skitarii, now I am going to have to do a mix.

The FW ones are undeniably better, and I love them to bits, but I do really like the GW ones and I'm not really sure why, they are very plain and they don't really fit. I think it's just because they remind me of like 50's B Movie robots (or what I imagine them to be like at least). Also after someone posted the one with the smiley face, I really want to paint some like that now...

If I were to come back to 40k I would really consider an AM force.

I think as an army they look good, but some of the models leave a little to be desired.

I actually think the units are a little bland on the whole.
With the electro-priests being ugly models, if they would come all out now I may even pick up a small army, but if GW is intent to draw it out I will probably just end up ignoring it.

Put out the codex now GW don't need to be so stringy.

Probably roughly 50 pounds.

Well I've had a sleep and this is my personal opinion on things.

The Dominius - looks good his fancy cog Axe is a bonus and he seems to have some sort of plasma pistol. But he seems to be smaller than described.

The battle servitors - these are troops ? Really?? Nice looking, and it seems they come with base decorations even if a skull or 2. but flamers? Okay odd.

The Electro Priests - I do not like how they are painted at all. But I can't tell much else. Seem okay.

The Robot & Controller - again paint job on robots seem odd and flamers again ?? The Controller seems great +1 GW . I'll probably get 1 kit then buy 2 of fw with a bits store sourced controller guy.

Just my 2 cogs.
