Man... I have just one desperate hope for the Cult Mechanicus book... some kind of transports. I know it is unlikely given the tracked Servitors, and Kastellan's make up half of the book as we currently know it to be, but playing "pure" Ad-Mech with this + Skitarii would be so nice.

Instead, every time I field my Skitari thus far I feel obligated to ally in some other Imperium army just for the transports.

Seriously GW... throw me this one bone. Just give me some kind of transport, and I will be happy being mid-tier for this entire Codex cycle. Even a Rhino would be fine. :-p

I don't mind being squishy, but I at least want a fighting chance to deliver those Electro-Priests, Vanguards, and Rangers for a round of shooting.

Just take the 5 models you need to from blood angels and get your 6 (fast) transports.

Suck it up, its 120 points.

I would, but our local meta has a two-source limit, as do a few nearby communities. Skitarii + Cult Mechanicus, at least for now, use up these two sources, despite them being, realistically "Adeptus Mechanicus".

Compulsory: 1 HQ, 1 Troop, 1 FA
Optional: 1 HQ, 3 Troops, 1 Elite, 5 FA, 3 HS, Fortification, 1 LoW
Restrictions: All units (except fortifications) must have the Blood Angels Faction.
Command Benefits:
Explosion of Bloodlust: Each time a unit from this Detachment successfully charges an enemy unit and the number rolled for its charge range is 10 or more (before modifiers), that unit gains the Rage special rule for the duration of that Assault phase. Note that the unit does not need to move the full distance rolled to gain this effect.
Lord of Cretacia: If this Detachment is chosen as your Primary Detachment, you can re-roll the result when rolling on the Flesh Tearers Warlord Traits table.

That's the Flesh Tearers Strike Force Formation from Shield of Baal: Exterminatus.

Nope, that's the detachment. This is the Formation:

Requirements: 3 Tactical Squads, 1 Assault Squad, 1 Vanguard Veteran Squad, 1 Furioso Dreadnought
Restrictions: None.
Special Rules:
Leading by Example: Whilst this Formation’s Vanguard Veteran squad is alive and on the battlefield, all units in this Formation ignore the penalties for disordered charges (including the penalty described in The Red Thirst, below) and have the Stubborn special rule.
The Red Thirst: In a turn in which a model from this Formation charges into combat, the model adds 1 to its Initiative characteristic until the end of the Assault phase. A model that has made a disordered charge that turn receives no benefit from the The Red Thirst.

Thanks. So you'd take 1 HQ and 1 Troop and then use all the FA slots for the Skitarii. So that's 6 models from the BA codex at minimum, not counting the transports. If podding in Skitarii is the idea, I would do 5 or 7 pods*. If 7 one of them would have to be a BA troop choice with a pod. Or maybe an elite choice with a pod. Something not FA with a pod is what I am getting at lol.

*This assumes Skitarii & BA only. If you are running 3 detachments (Skitarii, BA and something else that's substantial) then 3 pods would work fine...

That seems like it offers a lot of variety of playing styles. He must have good conversion skills to get that many Arc Rifles...or have bought a lot of boxes of Skitarii.

I like the teaser, so it seems like the other variety of Electro Priests may have giant electrical bracelets of some sort? I think I will like that better than the weapon option we have seen on the poster.

Thanks for the insights guys. IF, I can get my TO to recognize "Ad-Mech" as one source, I can easily sneak in such a tiny "tax" of Blood Angels to rectify the sole issue I have with Ad-Mech stuff thus far.

I suppose with the 6 boxes of Skitarii needed for the army he only needed another 9. I have some BA myself, so the idea of a combined arms force is interesting...Skitarii in a Stormraven could be expensive and fun.

They move 9 inches, they run faster.
Why put them in a Rhino where if it gets blown up you have a pretty good chance of losing half your squad at least.
It makes no sense.
Think smarter and give up the shackle of being bound to vehicles.
More bodies and better use of cover.
An Aegis is a good cheap investment.
A Landraider is something but when you get up in points like that you may as well start thinking about just popping in more for a Knight.

Hasn't Lords of War been freakishly close? I recall a few rumor-mongers nailing the releases of Harlequin, Skitarii, Eldar, Cult Mechanicus, back-to-back-to-back, and those same sources seeming confident that Codex Ad-Mech would be a thing.

That's significantly above dumb-luck, guessing, i'd think? :-p

Actually, Harry and LoW have been similarly excellent in calling out these and other pretty specific releases (Assassin's board-game, etc...), and both say Codex Ad-Mech is coming at some point after the two smaller books.
